About Me
CURRENT MISSION
apprendre le francais. social experiment. I quit my day job and now, am off on a 5 month adventure with little to no money, with nothing but audacity as my virtue and intuition as my guide
ABOUT ME
Having risen from the dusty ashes of my dearly depraved desert, Las Vegas, NV, life spat me out.... blah blah blah
Long story short - I'm an American from Las Vegas, on odyssey in Europe. Lived and studied for four years in Seattle, now living the dream as an au pair in Slovakia. Trying to see all of Europe and pick up some languages on the side, particularly French. Love languages, food, and people
Am in Bretagne right now :)
PHILOSOPHY
"go ahead"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently I'm abroad and living with a family, so hosting is not too much of an option. Other than that, my policy tends to be just feeling out vibes and acting accordingly. I'm sometimes chatty, sometimes silent, and always listening and/or observing (unless I'm dead tired, then I'm just sleeping with my eyes wide open.)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
hosted a beautiful Spanish soul before I left the U.S. for my European odyssey, have not actually surfed with anyone yet
I hitchhiked my way around the American Southwest when I was 18 with a friend who introduced me to both hitchhiking and couch surfing culture. We traveled from Las Vegas, to Arizona, and on to New Mexico where we camped in the woods at a National Rainbow Gathering. I traded my paraphernalia for a sweater, it was so cold. After leaving the Gathering (what an experience that was) we went onto Colorado, halfway to Nebraska, and exasperatedly back to Las Vegas where I leapt into the shower, scarfed my last supper, and slept for a fortnight.
On this trip, the kindness of strangers was such that I still can't believe, and we couch surfed with a few of the persons who dared pick us up, we slept in the beds of a few truck drivers, and we stayed with friends of friends we had made at the Gathering. All was swell.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite film of all time is hands down, Jules et Jim
Love docs, most new wave films, the sting
As for books, right now I'm reading some Borges fictions, some Joyce (Ulysses off and on..) some French surrealist poetry.. Also a bunch of pagan literature, Evan-wentz's celtic fairy faith dissertation, I'm all over the place with my intellectual intakes
And music, all about celtic tunes, pagan music, anything with harps / bagpipes / drums / didgeridoos, etc . "Normal" "modern" alternative is always good by me as well
S.J Tucker! Janis Joplin - Jenny Lewis
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen a lot, I've done a lot, there's more though, so so so so so so so much more. Today, I received my bike back from a friend of a friend. He put brakes on it, fixed a flat, basically reinnovated the entire damn thing, for free. I've been riding "Sketchlektra" for over a year now, I lost sleep the day before I purchased her. She's now safe to ride. Actually safe. Like I should stop calling her "Sketchlektra" safe. Sometimes, people are so so cool for no reason other than that they're so so cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
simple answer: I am learning to read tarot, and to contact juggle. would love to share either or neither of these interests with you depending on your interest :)
long answer:
I like to think of myself as a spiritual teacher. There are plenty of people more learned in literature, film, scripture, music, theater, etc. etc. than I am, there are dozens who are better versed in this that and the other than I, sometimes, I feel like I'm good at nothing, and know nothing about anything, or everything about nothing, but I'm fairly certain that I'm good at making people feel special and at ease with who they are when in my company. Sometimes, I change people's lives. I can't explain this until you meet me, and I'm sure it sounds so comically vain, but there's something about me that keeps my friends coming back to me through all of my difficulties. If you're paying attention, and if we both let each other in, you just might walk away from me a changed person.
