About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am a blue-collar worker in a factory but that's just my job. In my free time I study computer science at the university. Being back at college at the ripe old age of 28 and onward is not easy, especially with a full time job already but better this than winding up bored. Travelling is a necessity, not a hobby. 'Nuff said!

ABOUT ME

I am kinda of a Wiki-guy: I read a lot and browse encyclopedias and fun-fact sites completely at random so I can always have something to talk about, even if my conversation partner is from a completely different path of life. I do seem like a couch potato at home and during the part of the year when I work but on holiday I'm all for adventures: is it far? Let's go there! Is it tasty? And smells funny? Let's eat it! That guy/girl speaks a different language? Let's conversate! And so on...
Oh, and despite my not-so-athletic build, you'd be surprised how far I could walk!

PHILOSOPHY

"Some might say, that we should never ponder on our thoughts today 'cause they hold sway over time..."
Tomorrow is another day. And there aren't two exact days in your whole life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This idea of people sharing their own spaces with other people coming from all over the world is new to me. But appealing. It's some sort of utopia come true. So let's give it a try!

Interests

I used to be a drummer in a band. Not a big deal but we did have fun at it. We pulled some gigs from time to time, and we might not have been the most accomplished musicians but the (few) people watching us always had some kind words of appreciation for us. If all goes well we'll reunite sometime in the future.

I'm a volunteer for the local chapter of the Italian Red Cross. Rode ambulances and patted the back of kids injuring themselves at sports tournament. Worked with migrants. I also held first aid and sexual awareness lectures. Met also cool guys in the meantime.

I check out on a daily basis my Duolingo and Memrise apps so I'm sure a couple of new words can be learned each day. Eventually they will stick!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
If you'll ever ask, I'll show you the favourites section on my Spotify account. It's less complicated this way!

MOVIES
Anything but fantasy and superheroes movies!

BOOKS
Non-fiction mostly. Currently on a sci-fi spree (namely The Dune Trilogy)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Petted lions, dolphins and sea lions, paraglided, drove ATV, rescued a guy from overdosing, helped fire brigades putting out a wildfire, being told by a chinese waitress that I ordered too much food and that I could not eat it only to prove her wrong and being hailed as a hero as a consequence!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you screamed for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you'd produce enough energy to warm up a cup of coffee (I don't think it's worth the while);

If you'd produced farts at a constant rate for 6 years and 9 months, the resulting gas would provide the same amount of energy as the one of an atom bomb (Okay, that makes kinda more sense!);
A pig's orgasm lasts for 30 minutes (In my next life I want to be a pig, but then... how did they found that out? AND WHY?);

You need 150 calories per hour to bang your head against a wall (Still got that pig thing in my head...);

Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for sheer pleasure (That's why Flipper is always smiling... and pigs have half-an-hour orgasms? That's unfair!);

Right-handed people live on average nine years longer than left-handed people (And if you're ambidextrous? You calculate an average?)

An ant can lift 50 times its weight, drag 30 times its weight and always falls to its right-hand side if intoxicated (Do taxpayers finance this kind of research?)

Polar bears are left-handed (Really? How did they found out? And above all, who cares?);

A catfish has more than 27.000 taste-buds (What's so tasty at the bottom of a pond?);

A flea can cover a distance of 350 times its body length witha single jump. It would be like a man jumping from one end of a football field to the other (Half an hour... Go figure! And why pigs?);

A beheaded beetle survives nine days before dying (Gross!);

The male of the praying mantis cannot mate until its head is still on its body. The female kickstarts the mating by decapitating the male ("Honey I'm home! Put the head on the table, I'm horny today!");

Some lions mate more than 50 times a day (In my next life I'll be a pig: quality over quantity!);

Butterflies sense tastes with their feet (No comment!);

The eye of the ostrich is bigger than its brain (I know such people);

Starfishes do not have brains (I know such people also!);

You cannot lick your elbow;

A crocodile cannot stick out its tongue;

A shrimp's heart is in its head;

In an 80-year-long research involving 200.000 ostriches, no ostrich was ever seen burying its head in the sand;

Pigs cannot physically watch the sky;

More than 50% of the world 's population has never done or received a phone call;

Rats and horses cannot puke;

If you sneeze too hard, you could break a rib;

If you try to withhold a sneeze, you could rupture a blood vessel in the brain and die;

If you keep your eyes opened while sneezing, they could come out of their sockets;

Rats multiply so quickly that, in just 18 month, a couple could have one million descendants;

The lighter was invented before matchsticks;

One on three people looking for a soulmate via ads on papers are married;

Worldwide, 20% of copying machine issues are caused by people sitting on them to photocopy their butts;

Through their lifespan, a person will ingest on average 10 spiders and 70 insects;

Most of the chap-sticks contain fish bones;

As for fingerprints, the shape of the tongue is different for each person;

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a guest which is extremely respectful of other people's places and spaces. I never take anything for granted so I am ready to do my part to ensure a good hosting experience. Besides, I'm always in for a passionate yet polite discussion on a wide variety of subjects. Do you have any instruments at home such as a guitar or drums or even both? I can offer myself as session man also!
