About Me
Hello there!!! We are very happy that you have decided to visit the amazing city of Edinburgh, we love it here!! As you might know by now, Edinburgh is a beautiful but very busy city, so we get requests ALL the time, therefore, we decline most of the copy paste messages and we try only to host people who have took the time to read our profile and if after that you think we might have things in common, please, drop a message and tell us why we should meet.
We both are quite busy but, we try to host when we have some spare time to share with our gest because when we started with CS it was what we liked the most. We are very happy you choose our profile. We will very happy to have you and share some time together.
Ok, now a little bit about our journey…
We are a young (that’s what we like to think) couple that been traveling around the world since 2010 when we left our home city Rosario in Argentina to see the world or most of it.
We both grew up in the same city, living not so far from each other but somehow without knowing from each other existence, until one day, our paths crossed, and we became besties. Apparently, everybody knew that were perfect for each other but, it took us a while to finally realised that they were RIGHT! 19 years after that (and counting) there is still some controversy over who asked whom to go out, but we leave it there for now. 😊
Our first destination when we left Argentina was Zagreb, Croatia because we got a scholarship to continue learning about Croatian language there. We had a wonderful time living in Croatia and we did amazing friends and visited stunning places.
After that, we lived in Lugo, Spain a small and beautiful city with the most imponent and well-preserved Roman walls we have ever seen. We spent four wonderful years there more or less and again we did many friends.
Damian did some voluntary work in Germany that was an amazing experience for him. He met great people with big and free hearts.
After a season in Ireland we decided to move to England to the lovely city of Truro in Cornwall, were we stayed for almost another 4 years.
Last, but not least, a year ago now, we decided to move to the enchanting city of Edinburgh in Scotland. We still can’t believe how gorgeous is this city and if you have the weather on your site, it is a fairy tale come true.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Some friend told us about CS years ago while we were living in Zagreb and we just simply loved the idea, so Damian created his profile and we started to host people. We recently changed the profile to include both of us because we thought make more sense due, after 19 years together we kind come in a package so take it or leave it! No, we are kidding (we joke around a lot), but we host and travel together so that’s why.
Like we said before, we love the initial spirit of community that CS has and even when we are busy, we try to keep it alive and share our current city and experiences with travellers around the world and hear about theirs. Many people and friends we did through CS and in our own journey stay in touch and we still see each other, CS is a great source of interesting people, so that is why.
We know that when you are traveling a lot it is essential to save money and save it in accommodation is vital, we been there, believe us. We will not think bad of you if you just want free accommodation, although we enjoy a bit more if we share something else rather than just the roof above our heads. Sometimes is just a meal, a chat or even a walk around the city.
As you can imagine we don’t open our house and share our time with anyone. We will take our time to read your profile as you did with ours and then we’ll decide if we can have you. It is not a simple task, but when you read somebody’s profile you can kind of guest if is someone who will contribute to the community (i.e. if they also host) and who just need a free place to sleep and just copy and paste 100 messages.
We enjoy hearing the voices of other cultures, open-minded people, from all around the world, always with respect and freedom above all else...
We love the experience of open our home and connect with passionate people. We believe that travel is not only the places and landscapes is also about people and learn about their way to live.
Interests
Damian and Belen are quite similar but different at the same time. It’s hard to spot the differences but there are a few.
One studied History and the other Vet, back there in Argentina but they dropped it when they started to travel.
Both are into sports; one is a very good runner, the other just run wondering why and hoping to finish. One love to swim, the other kind of. They both support their home city football team, Rosario Central, but usually only one stay up at ridiculous hours to watch the match no matter what time zone they are. And if you are wondering if any famous football player from Rosario Central is playing in Europe, they will tell you very proudly more than one name.
They are very passionate about reading although I wouldn’t say they necessarily share all the same genre taste. One of them carry a book almost everywhere they go, “just in case” and has a book of books with all the books to read and read. The other one could easily quote Borges and get lost in his stories.
They enjoy music very much and switch between a few different styles so you will always hear very good background music on an evening with them. Don’t be surprise if you hear music while someone is having a shower or cooking, music is everywhere. They are always seeking for new music, bands or singers so feel free to share with them music that you like.
They are very enthusiast about cinema and series as well, even one of them have enforced a “movie night” once a week, so if you are staying with them and is “movie night” you might want to have some suggestions in mind, and popcorn is always welcome, of course.
They love art in general, they paint, draw, sketch, work with wood, do handcrafts, knit, etc, they have tried it all, very curious people, kind of hippie souls.
Both like to cook but only one do it every day, and very well by the way.
Damian and Belen make a great team and support each other all the time, they are very passionate about the causes they believe in and they are very enthusiastic about cultural exchange, free life and meet new people and new ways of thinking, they are also have interest in things that I cannot even classified.
