About Me
Hi Guys and Gals!
I'm Damir, 23. Born in Germany, but lived on the Balkans for most of my time.
My time is spent studying Computer Science, Rowing, and working in the IT.
From Pokemon to Sheldon Cooper, name one nerdy thing and you can bet that I know it.
The perfect day?
- Hiking on a mountain and watching the sunrise, with a good craft beer in your hand and some warm company
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well....
After the third book on traveling that I read, I finally decided to get into this Couchsurfing business.
I want to travel myself, but I guess the good couchsurfing grades will not make themselves, so I'm happy to host, since my appartment is free at the moment!
Also I hope to get the motivation going when people come to my home and tell me how easy it is.
So, let's do this!
Interests
I'm a passionate Rower.
It's a sport that kept me busy for the last 9 years. I was part of the Croatian National Team, and dream of joining the German with time.
The free time I have I spend thinnking about how to build up a happy life in a capitalistic consumer environment. Autmatization and self driving cars will be an ecnonomic revolution in the next 10 years, so let's be smart about it.
Nature.
Through Rowing I got to visit lots of lakes and rivers all around Europe, but I really like to hike up a mountain or spend a day in the nature.

Music, Movies, and Books
Let's talk about Steinbeck and East of Eden, that book vexes me. Hesse, Vaughn, Kishon, Peck, Martin, Olrick, Hemingway, Orwell- fine lads, all of them.
Nerd Pop Culture
TV Shows like Game of Thrones are the thing. They have a well written book as a source, a good story and excellent producers.
Animes, Mangas, Comics, VIdeo Games. All great tools to drift away to other realities for a short while.
Some time ago I watched the Godfather. And then again, and again.
A movie rich in story, sublime messages and good acting where I get more satisfaction from a dialogue than an action scene.
But also older movies like 12 Angry Men, Citizen Kane, Doctor Strangelove really move the way I think about acting.
Also Nausicaa, Totoro, Mononke and other Ghibli movies! High emotional and educationl value :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On a warm summer night I travelled 50 km with a friend in order to reach a gym in the most deserted and unexpected place I could ever imagine to find a gym.
A small village called Carsibarsi in Turkey.
It was old, used up, dirty, and small. The whole family that ran the business came down to greet us.
10/10 would do again.
Teach, Learn, Share
You want to learn to make a few knots?
Wanna learn how to draw?
Wanna try the best vegetable tomato pasta sauce?
Want to work out, but you're unsure about the exercises and effect?

What you can teach me?
Please teach how to say the basics of your language.
Tell me about the customs of your country and bring a cool story with you.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer a modest breakfast and some tea.
Also I have Wireless Internet, warm water and one huge couch for two.
