About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy the many great things that being alive has to offer

ABOUT ME

I am a nice, easy going person. I graduated from college in the winter of 2006, and I have pretty well been on the road ever since. I am an avid reader, I always like to have a good discussion, and I also just enjoy being outside. I am almost always game for a good adventure, and I always love tasting new kinds of foods.

PHILOSOPHY

I am still/always developing this one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think Couchsurfing is the greatest thing around. I like to host people whenever I can, and I enjoy staying with others when on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every couchsurfing experience has been great. I always meet interesting people, and feel like new friends have been made.

Interests

Being outside: camping, climbing, snowboarding, laying in the grass.
Reading: favorite authors include Kurt Vonnegut, Richard Brautigan, and many more.
Playing music: guitar and harmonica mostly, but happy to make noise on anything I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost any kind of music, as long as it is good (as defined by me). I listen to most anything as long as it is creative. I am pretty varied, and I am always open to something new.

With books I am much the same. I tend to read often, and love to find things that are new to me. Richard Brautigan is probably my favorite author (a beat-era poet and novelist), but I also like Vonnegut, Hemmingway, DeLillo, Sherman Alexie, and whatever else I might be reading. If you have a book you love, I'd love to hear about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is such a massive question...there has been so much seen in my life that I would consider amazing. The most recent thing I can think of is that I sat watching the ocean at Big Sur until it was no longer a body of water but one living organism, shining and crawling in the light, and when the waves crashed into the shore I could feel the entire world falling towards me with a rush so great it seized my breath, and I had to return my gaze to the horizon where more waves, endless waves, rose in black upheavals like a serpent stretching its back, and it was a cycle I could not escape, but nor did I want to...

Teach, Learn, Share

I try to keep a harmonica handy, and I like to make noise. I am pretty well read, and love discussing literature, philosophy, the human condition, whatever. Once again, I like to make noise. I am also a certified English teacher, and would love to read any work someone may be putting together, or any poems you have on you. You can ask the same of me too.
