Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've got little to no experience doing the couch surfing thing through the site. But in my personal life I take couch surfing to a new level (locally at least). :)

I make so little money in my day job that I can't afford to be on a lease, so I put my stuff into storage and have been able to count on my wonderful family of friends.

But I've heard great things about CS(.org) and I've spread the word about it to many people that were in a situation to make use of it. I'm excited to see how the Couch Surfer family treats a transient social activist who's main skill is communicating with and appreciating the uniqueness of everyone.

I've noticed a pattern in the caliber of people that join CS and I really want to get to know the Baltimore CS community. It seems many of us may be of the mind or inclination to make more of this awesome project than just hosting like-minded travelers (not to trivialize such a wonderful objective!).

Movies: all kinds, seriously.
Music: Diggin' on the jamtronic scene. Umphrey's McGee, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Lotus, Disco Biscuits.

Also all the standard eclectic awesomeness. From Chili Peppers to Outkast. The Police, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, Beethoven, and on and on.

Books: Lots of science fiction and fantasy, but also getting into more applicable fare, like John Taylor Gatto.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not sure I could name just one. I'm a part of something big, a resurgent human race. I'd love to say that the one amazing thing I've seen or done in my lifetime is... my lifetime.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a drug policy reformer. I know a LOT about the effort to end the war on drugs. But I'm such a curious creature that I've collected random knowledge on all sorts of topics. I'm a bit abstract, but people tend to feel like they profit from my presence. Wish I could be more specific.

I'd like to learn EVERYTHING, but to name a few specifics: cooking, outdoorsmanship, natural health solutions (herbalism and such), and also academic/scientific/technological stuff.
