About Me

Born and raised a Christian, so I'd like to say I am a good person. Former recruiter, sort-of-writer, aspiring human being.

Last year, I quit my job and bought a one way ticket to Ecuador. I traveled through South America for 6 months. During that time I mostly stayed in hostels. My favorite part was the multi-day hikes and learning about the history and culture of the people. Salsa dancing in Colombia was kick-ass too.

I started fundraising for a non-profit that helps people save hours and energy in their day by providing them with bicycles. A bicycle to someone in rural Africa is like the equivalent of a car. It make a huge difference. So, far I've raised $16k+ which is enough to help over 100 people.

Now I'm biking across the US. I started in Virginia on the east coast, bikes up across the Appalachian mountains, took pictures with confederate soldiers, drank moonshine and shit guns in Kentucky, braved the winds and flat plains of Kansas, and now I'm in Colorado. I'm heading west to Oregon and then biking down California.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently on sabbatical to explore the world. Meet locals is the best way to learn about the culture and history of a place. The things to do, the pace of things - all more authentic from the people who live there.

One day, once I get my own crib, I hope to welcome travelers into my home, exchange stories, share a nice meal, and offer them a slice of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a former awkward person, I've studied the art of likability and make for good conversationalist. I love to ask questions and get people to open up, and I'm an open book myself. I'm agreeable, fun, and overall curious. Hoping to learn and talk about spirituality, nature, work, purpose, politics, meaning, and craft beer. I can talk about most things, or at least, listen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll strip the sheets of your bed (or couch) if I stay there with you (and if there are sheets). One time I vacuumed the room for my host and she appreciates that. You can definitely expect a post card after my trip, and if possible, I like to offer something, be it ice cream or beers or my undivided attention. Most hosts appreciate the human interaction and I like to offer stories, curiosity, and fresh perspective.
