About Me

I've spent my whole life traveling but have only just realized that it's the one thing I love to do above all else, so I've left the corporate world to make it my full time living. If we're not doing what we love, then we aren't living!
Most of my career has been in the Aerospace industry including working for the Australian, US and New Zealand government's in military and commercial aviation.
I'm currently single (two marriages) and have a 23 year old daughter whom I'm trying to encourage to become an adventurer.
On the hobby side, I hold a Private Pilot's License and am a PADI certified Rescue/Open Water Diver. I also love photography, and almost anything related to food and wine. Recently I completed certification for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) which I hope to use soon in my travels.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I realized not too long ago that one of the problems we face with the proliferation of fear in this world is isolation. The more isolated we have become (through technology, lack of income, etc.), the easier it is for our fears to be fed through our own ignorance.
I'm intent on doing my small bit to encourage people to get outside and start actively experiencing different people and different cultures. I am couchsurfing therefore in pursuit of this - to meet and converse with many different people in many different countries or cultures, and to catalogue this through my blogs, so as to show that fear of 'others' are mostly unfounded.
And besides, let's face it, travel is an adventure - and who doesn't like a good adventure?
