Overview
About Me
I grew up along the swampy, slow-moving Buffalo Bayou in Houston, Texas, mostly on a diet of crawfish etouffee, sausage and jalapeño kolaches, BBQ brisket, and Pho. Now I am a bluegrass musician and audio engineer living in Boston.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hanging with locals seems like the best way to experience a new place and I look forward to making new friends.
Interests
I enjoy learning about and playing music. I tend toward older acoustic stuff, like bluegrass, old-time, country, and jazz. I mostly play the mandolin, but I love playing upright bass and acoustic guitar; occasionally I'll try my hand at the fiddle. Whenever I can, I like to travel to music festivals, meet new people, play music, and learn new tunes and songs. I'm into folk music from all over the world and am always looking to meet musicians from different backgrounds.
Also:
Camping, coffee, cooking, collecting old jazz records, contemporary art.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy all music, but lately I have been especially into:
Classic Bluegrass such as Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys, the Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs, John Hartford
Contemporary string band music from David Grisman, Tony Rice, John Hartford, Chris Thile, and Bela Fleck
Old-Time Fiddle music like the Skillet Lickers, Clyde Davenport, Tommy Jarrell, John Hartford, Tom Salyer, Bruce Molsky, Brittany Haas
Jazz artists such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Django Reinhardt, Louis Armstrong, Art Tatum, and Duke Ellington.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been honored to perform onstage at some incredible music venues and festivals.
