About Me

On a journey to discover ‘Man 2.0’. I’m trying to break the shackles of a city-boy upbringing and develop my inner caveman skills. Learning to grow, cook, build, communicate and survive around the world. Love giving away my time to good people and seeing them smile. A smile looks great in every language.
Sharing this journey is very important to me and I am in the process of starting up various blogs, vlogs and social media channels.
Finally I’m currently on the ‘bitcoin bandwagon’ and take great pleasure in decrypting this world for the average Joe/Jane and helping people to understand the true meaning of value and how to really give back to the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just love couches, beds are too mainsteam...
Currently I am road tripping around Europe with my girlfriend Becci (you can find a link to her profile here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/becci-griffin-1). Mainly using Workaway and volunteering along the way! Hoping to spend some random nights on sofas to meet new people, find local gems and most importantly: learn from you!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy books on behaviour and psychology as well as autobiographies on the sharpest minds and most cunning characters such as Howard Marks and Anthony Keidis. Books by Dale Carnegie and similar.
Big fan of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and of course the Harry Potter series!
Also odd choices like Elephants on Acid and The Ellipsis Manual.
Movie wise I’m a big Tarrantino fan, lover of Elmore Leonard’s works and mind benders like Inception, Adjustment Beareau and anything Christopher Nolan.
Music is anything relaxed and easy to play such as Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, the Beatles, Oasis and some odd little bits and bats.
Underground Compton or Detroit-based hip hop is a guilty pleasure and I’m a huge fan of J Dilla, Dr Dre, Madlib, Ice Cube, Percee P and the like, if you know Stones Throw or Aftermath Records, you know me.
This goes hand in hand with my upbringing of P-Funk and soul as well as motown classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was a rainy Monday morning in the UK. I woke up in my high-rise, ultra-modern, city centre apartment (MediaCityUK, Salford Quays, for those interested). I looked at my reflection in my £250 coffee machine and thought ‘this doesn’t make me happy’.
While in the shower, I thought about what frightened me the most in the world (aside from spiders) and my iPod skipped to the song Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran.
That was it. That day I handed in my notice on my well-paid job and flashy apartment, booked a one way flight to Tenerife to become a bar promoter and flew out there within two weeks with little money, no accommodation, no friends there, no work lined up and having never visited before and with just hand luggage.
One year later I left having broken every barrier I believed existed. I met the most inspiring person and made her my girlfriend and by the time I left I had my own beautiful home, I was single handedly managed a bar of my own and I’d met literally thousands of people I could now call friends.
After checking back in to the UK for a year, I’m about to do the same again, with Becci by my side and even bigger invisible walls to break down. This is that journey, and in reading this, you're part of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Currently I’m involved in cryptocurrency and financial technology, I can give some really interesting insight and simple information on this.
Having taught myself the guitar, I can teach you some basics if you need them or show you some good old fashioned English rock from the homeland like the Beatles or some Oasis.
I cook a mean crepe and can help you unlock the hidden secrets of this tricky wonder. Can also cook some wholesome filling foods and am happy to share the washing up.
It would also be my pleasure to teach some of my own language or our etiquettes and humour as well as some of the Spanish I am learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all, a lovely face to look at. You can put me in the corner of a room to make it feel modern or somewhere as a centrepiece to show guests and family.
Anything I’m interested in or good at (see above) I’m happy to share, as well as helping with anything you can think of that applies to this (tech issues, manual work, music, cooking, languages etc.)
