Overview
About Me
My mission in life is to work on developing better language learning programs for schools. This includes curriculum development, textbooks, teacher training and testing. My major interest has been in native speakers of English learning Chinese and Japanese, but I've also read a lot about other language groups learning second languages.
I always show a lot of respect to people around me, and I hope that other do the same. There are so many people and opportunities in China that I don't want to spend very long doing something I don't totally love.
The best way to achieve personal happiness is to help others achieve theirs. Always reserve judgement on people, I feel like cross cultural interactions are much easier to make mistakes in and accidentally do something or say something people don't like.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friend in Shanghai got me into it originally, and I hosted people in Nanjing for two years.
Interests
I'm honestly pretty crazy about the Chinese tv show "If you are the one" Fei Cheng Wu Rao . I have been to the audience three times to watch, and I was a contestant on 3 of August 2013 - 4th contestant. I'm also really into coffee and cafes, food and restaurants, drinking and dancing, talking and making new friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to be a Footbag (hackysack) champ. Search for "Dan Ednie" on youtube to see some of the videos. I work in TV now as a host for a documentary series and guest for different game shows and that's really fun.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really do like learning about Chinese culture, I know that sounds too obvious, but I like learning about history, buildings, tea and philosophy. I like food but there is much more to China than just the food. I like the "Four books, Five Classics" (Si Shu, Wu Jing).
I also really love Japan and Japanese culture. I know Japanese quite well and would really like to learn Japanese with
