About Me

I am an easy going, fun loving, life living dude from The Great Northwest.
I like to make music. Any kind, really, but I specifically enjoy singing and playing guitar. I love to climb. Started with trees, now it's boulders, someday mountains. When I'm not doing that I'm typically conducting self guided brew tours by bike around Portland, or perhaps just sitting in my backyard with a good book. Pride in my sense of humor (and modesty). Can't go long without laughing, watching strange films or having a good conversation.

Had to leave Loxley (the handsome bandit behind me in my profile pic) at home for this one. We're hitting the road later this summer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Getting back into some stateside travelling and found this to be a great way to meet people.

(From 2015)
I'm joining up on couch surfing in the middle of a soul searching journey through the southern states and eventually back home(for now) exploring new towns, meeting different and interesting people and generally trying to figure out who I am and what makes me happy.

I actually acted as host to many, many couchsurfers in the summer-winter of 2013 at my current residence, however the account we used was under my roommates name who has since, sadly, moved out. You'll find him, Ross Becker, in my references with a much appreciated tip to check out his references going back from December 13th. It's like a scavenger hunt! ..kind of.

Music, Movies, and Books

-Vonnegut. -Blaise Cendrars (seriously, find him if you haven't.) -B. Catling ('The Vorrh’ Swoon.) -Pynchon. -P.K. Dick. -Céline. -H. Miller. -Steinbeck. -Kenneth Patchen. -Kerouac.
The list is loooong.

All films bizarre. Don't even know where to start. French/Spanish surrealist. Noir. Daniels. Linklater, Jarmusch, Smith.
Fucking BLADERUNNER. All cuts, doesn't matter.

Music is going to be the trickiest. Pretty easy to figure out if you meet me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I caught a Hummingbird in my hands once! No kidding, it was totally fine but had flown into my house and after trying everything to help it find a way out I finally had to just wait until it was exhausted and then scoop the little dude up off the windowsill. I could feel it's heartbeat on my palm like a tiny chainsaw. Outside, they hung out on my palm hand for about a minute (that's damn near 1,300 heartbeats.) and then took off.

Teach, Learn, Share

Got big into bouldering a little over a year ago, still mostly indoors but I'd love to be dragged out to the crag. Also a fairly proficient archer with a naked recurve, although I'm probably not travelling with it currently.

A student of the human mind and it's connection to nature and the universe. Practiced through meditation, esoteric ritual and the use of entheogens. There's something going on, you know.

Wiz with a wrench. Certified Bicycle Tech. If yer bikes broke, it won't be when I leave (Tools dependent). Love to teach basic maintanence as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I adore trading stories! Anything from amazing adventures to horrendous heartbreak. Everyone is the most interesting person in the world to me.
I also enjoy sharing music and jokes, but still definitely appreciate a quiet game of cribbage or chess.
