About Me

We are a couple of adventurous, laid back, edgy (read: tattoos and black clothing) 30-somethings living inFort Collins, Colorado. We strongly believe in the idea that we are not born to work, pay bills, and die. We love games, good food, good drinks, and mediocre company!

Dan is a firefighter and property manager. He's had a wide and varied work career which means he knows a lot about a lot and would be happy to share that knowledge! He also works on video games in his spare time, learning as he goes. He likes to draw, build things, play video and table top games, camp, hike, and backpack around the moutains. He enjoys craft beer and foods made primarily of meat and potatoes. His plans for the future include more video game design, and lots and lots more travel when possible.

Meredith is the creative designer of the couple. She owned and operated a brick-and-mortar bead and jewelry store for 5 years before getting her dream job as the technical editor for a beading magazine. She likes to give Dan projects that he builds for her, in exchange she trudges (happily) along with him on adventures biking, hiking, camping, and backpacking. She likes photography, anything steampunk, playing video and table top games, writing, and making jewelry. She's been a (pesco, ovo, lacto) vegetarian since 2003, so she tries her best to encourage Dan to eat a vegetable every once in a while. After several years of marriage, she has made little headway. Her CS profile is at https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/2000320895 but mostly inactive, since we just share this one.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dan: mostly electronic music with a smattering of everything else when the mood strikes.

Meredith: indie and folk artists, downtempo and deep house, industrial, edm, ebm.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dan: I once cliff dived into a freezing glacial pool that had formed in the crack dividing the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

Meredith: there's a lot, but if I had to pick just one I would say: cave tubing and zip lining through the jungle in Belize.

Teach, Learn, Share

Dan: I am experienced with computer game design, custom computer building, electronics, woodworking, climbing, and a load of other hobbies. Always looking to learn more and pass on what I know.

Meredith: Beads are my forte. I would be willing to teach anybody anything about jewelry they want to know! After working in a bead store and now owning one for a collective 13 years, I have a lot of knowledge to share! I also do photography, and can share my (somewhat more limited) knowledge about that as well. I went to art school, so any creative endeavors you might have -- just ask!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Guests: We live in a medium sized apartment on the south side of Fort Collins. It is near the bus routes, 5 minutes from the interstate, and 5 minutes from the mountains. We have a guest bedroom with a queen sized bed, and a second bathroom that has a shower. It's a rather small but nice apartment. Our couch is very comfy, and at least one of our 3 cats provides some company as well. We'd love to share a meal, be it dining out or in! We can also give you a good idea of what to do in the area, and possibly show you around the mountains if we have time.

Hosts: We have some limited cooking skills, but we have a few recipes under our belts if you would like us to cook for you! We are tidy and respectful. We would love to give you a gift but since we don't really know you (yet) -- if you could give us a hint !! We'd love to gift you with something in exchange for your hospitality.
