Overview
About Me
The last few years I was studying in Karlsruhe, Germany. I really liked the life as student, living in a student's dorm with 14 (yes, 14..) flatmates. There was a core of about 4-6 people and a high fluctuation with the others. So I already got to know all kinds of people and cultures.
Now that this is over I'll start working as Systems Engineer in Pleasanton, California. Well, here I will be the immigrant and let's see how I cope with it. I am already excited but also hopeful that I just fit in alright.
I love the nature, even though I'm not half as long out as I would like to. I tried running, trekking, cycling and since 2 years I am also climbing. Yet mostly indoors but hopefully this changes in CA.
My studies were technological ones and so are some of my interests. No, I cannot repair your microwave because I studied something with electronics. But yes, I know how to install some lamps. Also, I think I am kind of a digital native but with a healthy sceptical view on it.
I like to get to know people, talk with them and discuss with them. No matter the topic, if it is nature, social issues, economics and global politics or just ourselves. That's the way I define people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To be honest, I am new here. The couches I slept on where yet all from people I already knew. You could say 'Hey, now that you finished your studies you can afford a hostel!' But CS is not about saving money (well, OK, it's a nice side-effect). I still feel like a student and I still want to learn new persons with other experiences and views than my own.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like demanding literature like Mann, Vargas Llosa, T.C. Boyle and some more. Also i love books like 'The Beach' and 'Lord of the Flies'. In between, exciting books e.g. by Stephen King are also nice.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had the opportunity to travel a lot with my parents when I was around 12-15 years old. Maybe that prompted my interest in travel and far away countries.
I also worked for some time as Paramedic, which was quite a defining time for me, my personality and my later studies and profession.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As already told, I won't repair your microwave. But I have some manual and technical skill. So if there's something broken I can at least try my best ;)
