As I sit and write this I am sat in Afghanistan planning what to do with my leave this Autumn. I enjoy travelling and the opportunity to meet new people and experience new things so I have planned a trip to the West Coast of the US to see all the best that California has to offer.

I enjoy City life and visiting bars and clubs but I also enjoy seeing the great outdoors too.

Before joining the military I worked as a chef so experiencing local cuisine is something I am keen to do where possible. I am also happy to cook for people who are kind enough to allow me to stay with them

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be traveling solo for the majority of my trip so it makes perfect sense to meet local people and get a feel for the areas I visit. You can only learn so much from Lonely Planet. I'm a naturally sociable person so I like the idea of meeting new people as I travel around the country. I have spent the last 6 months working with American military personnel who have been unfailingly friendly and welcoming about visiting their country which made me think that meeting more Americans as I travelled would be a good thing to do.

I would love to meet new friends around the world and this seems like the perfect place to do it. While I am not able to offer people places to stay at this time I am happy to show people around London or Brighton when I am back there.
