About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to come out of the end of 2009 with every weird and funny story imaginable from my time experienced in Europe. On a once in a lifetime trip so I need once in a lifetime stories and adventures!

ABOUT ME

Currently on a 6 month trip throughout Europe. I've been trying my hardest to get organised and start couchsurfing but it hasn't been until now that I have managed to do this! I realise not only is it a possible bed and local knowledge from people who have lived where I am going, but also a fantastic chance to make new friendship networks and experience different cultures and people in a way hostels cannot provide.

What can I tell you? I love travelling, love experiencing everything life has to offer and love meeting new people and hearing their story. I am a bit of a mixed bag, I love to party but I rarely complain about taking it slow, or having drinks around a table or just chilling out.

PHILOSOPHY

While I am religious in a sense of the world, I believe you live life once and you have to make the very most of it. Even the adventures that don't go right are still a learning experience and at the end of the day, I want to be able to say I have worn myself out instead of simply withered away. As Pepsi say, live life to the max....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have come to realise that next year I am going to be living in Sydney for some time and I plan to make my couch available to not only those who make it available to me, but other people I haven't met who will find themselves in my position in years to come. After speaking with a number of people on my travels about CS, I realise it is safe and the people involved in it are so friendly and hospitable that it only enhances the travelling experience further. I hope to do the same for my fellow travellers in future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The only experiences I have had are those that other people have shared with me personally on my travels. Of my circle of friends back home, I have been the first one to take on this new kind of adventure and hope to spread the message further to them about my positive experience.

ahhh...where to start, music, beer, wine, good food!, friends and family, footy (of all kinds nowdays), travelling of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Instead of any I will list the 3 of each category I have most recently acquired:
Book: The Pianist
Movie: Its been a while as travelling rarely allows me this pleasure but I would say it was Hancock (not by choice, and I hated it with a passion). I wanted to see James Bond but it appears not to be out yet.
Music: Most recent cd I downloaded was Black Milk (from Detroit) - Tronics

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess when I think of the word amazing experience, I would have to say bungee-jumping off a bridge in Bulgaria. It was a simple operation, where we needed to climb to the railing of a bridge, connected to a cord which was only fastened to the bridge with a clamp. The instructor informed me that he could only speak Bulgarian and Russian and so all this put together with my vertigo left me a little nervous. Little to say I did the most ungraceful dive off the bridge and flipped around a few times and once I stopped bouncing I realised it was all worth it and screamed my lungs out.

Teach, Learn, Share

I tend to be alright with numbers in general - Mathematics, Physics, Statistics etc. It relates to my degree and it seems to be my calling. I actually enjoy working with numbers so even if someone needs my helps, I would be more than happy to help out any way that I can. I can also help out with any English, written or spoken, for those who might be studying it at school or university.

As far as practical skills go, while I have no real training, I tend to be able to solve most problems around the house if something needs to be done. I think the main problem for me would be knowing where to buy something in order to fix whatever is broken in a foreign country...

I really want to learn another language, however I think this might be a little too much to ask from a brief meeting/stay with someone though, but it definitely a goal of mine.
