Resumen
Sobre mí
ABOUT ME
What do your friends say about you? "He's okay lah..." But that's just her! I grew up in London with a South African dad and a Mozambican mum, and most of the family still resides in Southern Africa. I love talking, I love listening and just generally smiling and meeting new folk.
PHILOSOPHY
Problem shared is a problem halved. That and this world is so very very beautiful.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to go to new places and have people tell me that I'm wrong. I like to share all the gems of London that I'm aware of and for people to tell me stories.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfed when I went to China, in Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Only stayed with one person, hung out with the others, but I had no idea people could be so friendly and interesting to complete strangers.
Then Couchsurfed in Chengdu. Met some awesome people, made bobotie (a part of me will always be stunned that it was possible to find another South African and make bobotie and melktaart in China) and learned a little tango.
After, couchsurfed in Spain, when I arrived in Madrid to do Erasmus. The person who hosted me my first few nights then went on to become one of my best friends, and met June who knows more about Madrid and what goes on than any Madrileño I've ever met.
Intereses
I'm really into my sports and my languages. I'm a climber, and if I didn't live in a country that sees the sun for about 5 minutes a year you'd probably always find me hanging off various bits of rock. I'm learning Chinese and Spanish, and take any chance I can get to practice ( tube, elevator, plane etc!). Ienjoy learning about computers, and understanding why things are the way they are. (Why are there coloured rings around the moon on a cloudy night?).
I like new points of view. Shouldn't have convictions till you've built them.

Música, películas y libros
Wild Swans, The Borrible Trilogy and The Complete Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Bruce Springsteen, Old Crow Medicine Show, most things with a banjo. Jazz, soul, rock, etc.
Algo increíble que he hecho
Taking a huge fall when climbing, and not hitting the ground. The adrenaline rush was so huge I couldn't stand up for a few minutes.
Getting lost in a forest in Slovakia while running from a thunderstorm and ending up 3 miles into Hungary. Then getting picked up by the first car on the road, who turned out to be an old school friend of the friend I was with and who was stark naked bar a facecloth, because he'd been skinny dipping.
Every time I see Cape Town. No other view brings together beauty, family and sheer awe.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I can take you climbing, introduce you to some South African food and discuss science. Fun fact, if you throw something straight up into the air and let it fall back to your hand, it doesn't actually turn around, it follows a straight line (ignoring air resistance). Think about that next time you lose grip of your phone.
I'll learn what I'm taught, but would have a particular interest in Chinese/Spanish and (long shot!) programming. The only things I can share are my home and my city.
