COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm hoping to build this section in the near future.
Interests
Nature: I've hiked, camped, and explored quite a bit. Some places include into the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park, The Rain Forests of Costa Rica, small portions of the Appalachian Trail, and many more. My personal favorite place to enjoy nature is right in my (Upstate New York's) back yard, The Adirondack Mountains.
Music: There are few things I enjoy more than listening and playing music. I've gone to quite a few shows, both big and small. I really love to listen to live music and I enjoy a lot of different types of music. Although I find myself more of the type to appreciate music, I've learned to play a few instruments. Of all the instruments there are none I prefer more than the guitar. There's nothing quite like it in that it travels well, it can be played solo (and sing along), as well as played in a group. Guitar players are so ubiquitous that it's never hard to find a fellow guitarist to jam with.
Cycling: Rubber to the pavement on a warm sunny day is wonderful. to me a bicycle is freedom. My house lies in a particularly auspicious area where I can bike to country farm land in one direction, downtown Rochester in another direction and the beach in another direction (granted, the beach is a great lake with imported sand). I've ridden the Tour de Cure twice, which raises money for diabetes research. The team that myself and my family are on has raised thousands of dollars for the cause and you can donate here:

Reading: I think the truth is that I just love learning. I only caught on to reading as a pastime in the past few years. I imagine that is because school always made reading seem like a chore. It wasn't until I read Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything" that I leaned I can learn "nearly everything" from reading. I've been hooked ever since.
People: The number one thing that I truly like to do is talk to people. I always enjoy meeting an old friend at a coffee shop and catching up, or making a new friend at the bar. While other people sit around a T.V. my family sits around a (television-less) couch and talks to each other. I think people have a lot to learn from one another and conversing is the best way for us to understand each other.
Travel: Yeah, this is axiomatic being I'm on this website. I've been lots of great places in North America, but the next step is to get off this continent.
