Overview
About Me
I'm Danny. I recently quit my job after a year and a half as groundskeeper of a sustainable community being built in the Panamanian jungle. Before that I was traveling in Central America for about 7 months just on the lookout for anything coming my way. And before that I was traveling the U.S. for 2 years cleaning hotel rooms (woohoo!) And before that...
Now I'm in South America with my best friend Dixie (also a couchsurfer) who I met in the Peruvian Amazon three years ago doing reforestation work with a volunteer organization, and who I then worked with in Panama.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Tired of the hostel scene, I want to meet local people and learn from them and experience the world from their point of view.
Interests
Well I am interested in some things, music and reading among them which you'll find in the box below. Some other things I'm interested in are walking the streets of large cities with little more purpose than to merely soak in the city's personality, jungles, especially swimming in waterfalls in jungles, and hiking into sparsely inhabited regions of jungles, animals, notably jungle animals, but also cats and dogs, board games (Settlers of Catan anyone?), eating good food and drinking good beer, or eating terrible food and drinking watery beer in good company or great locations.

Music, Movies, and Books
Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, Local Natives, Blue Sky Black Death, Oddisee, Blockhead, DJ Frane, Richie Cunning, Mother Mother, hip hop, rock, indie, etc...
Sci-fi, Dune probably being my favorite of the genre, huge fan of Philip K. Dick (no relation) and slowly trying to read his complete works. Currently on book 10 of the sci-fi/fantasy series Wheel of Time. Also interested in books on spirituality, My Big Toe, and Autobiography Of A Yogi two books that have had big influences on my spiritual outlook.
I also like movies, but don't devote much time to them while traveling.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Summited the tallest peak in Central America (Tajumulco in Guatemala) wearing a stranger's underwear.
