About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get more out of life by going on adventures. My work has evolved from being a mobile, digital nomad setup into being the facilitator of a site based project, so it's a pretty common sense setup.
Brick Project CIC is quickly becoming an internationally renowned organisation so most of my time goes into that at the moment... More info here... https://www.brickproject.co.uk/

ABOUT ME

Since 2005 I have spent my life working and living as an artist and creative facilitator. I love to explore new places and meet new people.

PHILOSOPHY

You have to give more than you take and allow yourself to develop through honest reflection on your developing life story. Then communicate what you discover, and enjoy expanding your understanding of the world. Life is always a work in progress! I engage closely with philosophy and feel very comfortable talking about Marx.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have lived in houses that have hosted with CS since 2013, as of now I intend to use it whenever I travel and intend to host whenever I'm in a settled location, which as of 2016, I have been... although I'm all over the place at the moment so the house in the Bulgarian wilderness has been mainly looked after by Workawayers and Wooffers since 2019. We're developing artist studios there to use as a base for Brick Project eventually.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a lot, and felt that it was time I filled out a profile! People who have stayed in houses where I have lived have always been 100% positive about the experience.

Interests

I'm fascinated by galleries and exhibitions and like to travel around experiencing artwork. I like to make semi permanent installations in derelict buildings and have an ongoing self funded public art project called Brick Project, where we restore an unloved area by individually painting single bricks, creating an inclusive monument where local people can take an active role in its development.
I love participating in street art events and play guitar in a variety of improvised garage folk bands. I was in a 'legendary' band called The Tit Mice, now I'm in Spudcaster and Shit Gibbon. Despite losing the use of my right index finger to arthritis a few years ago I haven't quit!

Music, Movies, and Books

Whether it's spaghetti westerns, blockbuster action movies or more unpredictable art-house cinema, I love talking about films. I like to be surprised and find that being open minded about the films I watch allows this to happen more often.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travel everywhere by bus because I like to have an understandable impression of how far I have travelled. I frequently get buses around Eastern Europe, travelling everywhere by bus when I'm in a city. It makes me feel independent and immersed in the culture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach painting in acrylics and street art spray paint. I like to take part in projects where people come together and create something that could not have been made by anyone else in any other way... does that make sense?

I also love to teach people how to play guitar.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a habit of leaving paintings wherever I've spent time. I can teach backgammon and would love to compose a song with you!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Spain
