Overview
About Me
I’m at the stage of life where I’m realizing more and more how much we all depend on each other. Also seeing frivolous waste and consumption now officially drives me insane.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting and talking to new and interesting people! I know my way around Chicago fairly well by this point (especially after being a delivery driver for a while when I first got here), and I'm happy to share my knowledge with those looking to explore the city.
Interests
I haven’t been taking photos like I used to, but I developed my own film for a while, and enjoyed shooting medium/large format (mostly Bronica SQ… love the square).
Been racing sailboats more and more the last few years, last year we won the Inshore Verve even though our rented boat had no wind vane!
I own a small bicycle repair business in Chicago, and have been volunteering with a few orgs here for a while now, so I’m pretty good at diagnosing and fixing bikes, especially older/basic commuters. I enjoy my garage/basement time working on them a lot (depending on the season).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing into an active volcano (Pacaya) takes this one pretty easily.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m a real jack-of-all-trades… I can pick things up quickly, but never master them. So, I know JUST enough in so many fields to recognize how bad I actually am at them, but I’m always happy to share my knowledge!
