About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seizing the day and living in the moment.

ABOUT ME

I consider myself to be a laid-back kind of person, usually up for almost anything (except for roller coasters.. they freak me out). I try to make the best of every situation and to enjoy life. I love traveling, experiencing different cultures, and meeting all sorts of people.

PHILOSOPHY

"Wherever I am, that's the place to be." (The Bouncing Souls)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted people from all over the world, and spent 4 months surfing all over the United States, and 3 weeks surfing across the United Kingdom! Which is how I ended up living in Scotland for a year. I returned to the Netherlands just recently.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I absolutely love CS! I've met so many great people, some of whom I am still in contact with. It's a great way not only to visit a place, but also its residents and to see the place through the eyes of the locals. Both hosting and surfing have proven to be very rewarding for me!

Interests

I love bunnies, music, movies, beer, friends, traveling, meeting new people, food, reading, sleeping, smiling, driving, camel-riding, sun, snow, and much much more..

Music, Movies, and Books

YES PLEASE!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked as an intern for a joint Israeli-Palestinian NGO called The Parents Circle. All members of this organization are Israelis and Palestinians who have lost a close relative in the conflict, but choose dialogue and friendship over revenge and hatred. Hearing these people tell their heart-breaking stories, followed by a call for national forgiveness and mutual understanding has really been inspiring.

Also, I traveled (road-tripped) alone through the United States for four months, surfing on strangers' couches all the way. I saw amazing things that I would never have seen if I would have stayed at hotels, I met amazing people and learned a lot about American culture.

Teach, Learn, Share

"The fact that we are all human beings is infinitely more important than all the peculiarities that distinguish humans from one another." (Simone de Beauvoir)

"'You can be anything you really want to be' - if you are prepared to fight, to create priorities for yourself against the grain of cultural expectations, to persist in the face of misogynist hostility."(Adrienne Rich)

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them." (George Bernard Shaw)

"I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it." (Alice Walker)

"Lach om alles en stoor je niet aan anderen! Het lijkt egoistisch, het is in werkelijkheid het enige geneesmiddel voor zelfbemedelijdende." (Anne Frank)
