About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have the kind of experiences that make good stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My most memorable couchsurfing experience was a month spent with a friend in Grand Rapids, MI. It was a beautiful time of year and it was probably the most social month of my life. I arrived knowing just one person but left with so many new acquaintances. It seemed like every day I got to meet and hang out with someone new because I really had no other choice. I've always truly enjoyed the process of getting to know a new person.

Interests

Mostly I am interested in food. How to grow it. How to process it. How to cook it. I like the culture of food, how different peoples have developed such vastly contrasting flavors and techniques. I am always very curious about how and what others eat.
Like most people I also love music. I try to go to live shows as often as possible, once a week if I can.
I also love cycling. For about a year now my bike has been my primary mode of transportation. I like that I'm not creating any carbon emissions but that's really not why I do it. It's fantastic exercise and a great way to wake up in the morning and clear my head at the end of the day. I swear it's faster through downtown too. Recently I have begun to explore the idea of attending UBI in Ashland, OR as a means to becoming a bike mechanic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably my most amazing experience was living and teaching in the woods of western North Carolina for two summers while I was in college. I learned a lot about primitive living skills like fire making, shelter building, fiber usage and tracking. Once I had learned some of these skills I got to teach them to inner city foster children from Miami, FL. It was a truly special experience.
