About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel all the places. See all the things. Meet all the people.

PHILOSOPHY

Be good to one another.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to travel and meet new people! I understand that it can get expensive so when I heard about this site I knew I wanted to help and meet all the awesome people out there! I was able to Host before, and met such a wonderful lady! Taking someone around town and showing them a good time was such a pleasure.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, but I will try and take advantage of it next time I travel!

Interests

I love being outdoors, hiking, exploring, trying new things and new food! A good glass of wine or beer and meeting new people! I am a recent grad from Buffalo State College with a BFA in Visual Communication for graphic arts. I love to ride my bike or walk and constantly am finding new places around Buffalo to explore. New restaurants, activities, and a developing waterfront are some of the perks to the area. I have hosted one person and since have been looking to get more involved in the couch surfing community again! I look forward to meeting new people and hopefully traveling near by and far to explore every inch of this globe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled the USA in 1 month- Rented a car with my bestie! Check out our blog and facebook! twoexploreusa.com

I realized that what is more memorable than the monuments you see are the people you meet and the moments you create.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My home : I rent an apartment with my friends Mike & Liz who are dating :) we have two nice couches and keep our place pretty tidy. No pets either. Mike is a musician and tours frequently, Liz and I met in college for Graphic Design and since I've known Mike since high school we've got a great vibe at the house! Two large couches and plenty of room for an air mattress.

Location: 5 minute walk from Elmwood & Allen, grocery store, and 5 minute drive from down town/ City Hall. Niagara Falls is roughly a 35-40 minute car ride, and we are 15 minutes from the airport. We live in a safe area though it is a city and some neighborhoods should be avoided like any area. ( I do not recommend staying in Niagara Falls)

ABOUT BUFFALO! A brief overview of what to do while visiting.

Where to EXPLORE: These first three are close to each other. Elmwood has frequent bus stops that run up and down the strip.
ELMWOOD AVE.---- Between Forest Ave and Allen St.--Elmwood has many bars and restaurants mostly on the Northern part and middle. You can find some of the best coffee on Elmwood. ( Cafe Taza near Allen, Cafe Aroma near Bidwell Park of Spot coffee which is my least favorite but has a good menu and great location to shops)
ALLEN ST.----Best known for nightlife, variety of bars. Allen has some restaurants and shops as well. (Popular restaurants: Cantina Loco, Allen Burger Venture, Gabriels Gate (wings), Jim's Steakout,) (Popular bars: Hardware, Frizzys, Brick Bar, The Pink (weird & usually the last stop))
CHIPPEWA----If you like to go "clubbing" this is the area for you. I haven't hit the clubs up in a while but I'd probably start at SoHo or Bottoms up to get my freak on. In the summer they have Sky Bar which is on a roof top! Party ends at 4 AM in Buffalo so party on!

HOW TO EXPLORE BUFFALO IN A DAY?
1. Grab a coffee/breakfast from (Spot, Cafe Aroma, Cafe Taza, Tipico, Five Points Bakery, )
2. Go to City Hall ---You can ride all the way to the top to see a great view of the city. Monday-Friday 9-4:30
3. Head to Canalside/Harbor - Visit their website for activities. https://www.canalsidebuffalo.com/
4. Grab a snack and take a walk around Delaware park. If it's the first Friday of the month the Albright Knox art gallery is open for free! Either way definitely a good option.
5. DINNER- Buffalo is surrounded so many great restaurants. My favorite: Cantina Loco for mexican & the best margaritas in town, Gabriels Gate --cool atmosphere with good wings, Pano's ---Great greek food and variety of casual & upscale menu items. Cole's -- Not a mind blowing creatively but everything always comes out great and their menu is large. If you have some $$$ Check out Hutch's, Lombardo's, Toutant, Left Bank, La Tavola Trattoria, Vera,
6. Get your drink on! --Start with a cocktail at MesQue, Angelica Tea Room, Buffalo Proper, Vera, Toutant, then so you don't clean out your pockets migrate to Allen St. Plenty of live music and entertainment.
7. Get Llyods Taco --Look for the green truck or location on Hertel. DO IT.

NIAGARA FALLS -- Is AMAZING year round. Make sure to pack your passport, the Canadian side has a great view! You can get up close to falls but if you don't go to the Canadian side it's like only watching tape one of Titanic. FINISH IT! If it's hot you should absolutely buy a ticket to the Cave of the Winds which allows you to basically walk into part of the falls. (American Side) The Maid of the Mist is also an awesome choice. These activities probably end in September. If you can spend a night in Canada the hotels are pretty cheap, I've snagged one for $50 before. Clifton hill in Canada can entertain you all day and night. They have a water park, casinos, and many amusements. Wizard golf is by the far the coolest putt-putt experience I've ever had for putt-putt!

THINGS TO KNOW:
-We just got Uber / Lyft !
-Our bars are open to 4AM
-Anchor bar is the first place to have served wings but most LOCALS do not eat there.(try Duffs or Gabriel's Gate)
-Our pizza is amazing. Other areas of the world...what are you doing???
- Buffalo hosts events at the First Niagara Center : Check it out and see if anything is going on while you're in town
-We have an awesome comedy club called Helium
-Music venues include : Town Ballroom, Nietzches, Buffalo Ironworks, Waiting Room, DBGB's
- PICK UP AN ARTVOICE /THE PUBLIC- This is a free newspaper to have when you're in town. It lists a lot of events, many free that can help guide your entertainment!
-Shakespere in the Park : Every summer Delaware park hosts a free play, bring a picnic basket and some wine and settle down, it's a good time! http://shakespeareindelawarepark.org/

VISITING DURING WINTER? --Buffalo tries to keep up spirits by holding many different winter festivals. Niagara Falls is also still pretty sweet looking in the winter. I myself usually visit once in the summer and again in the winter every year.
