Hello! I’m Danakin. I was born in Malaysia but raised in Vancouver, Canada since my teenage years. I love to travel spontaneously with no plans and a backpack full of adventures.

I started my solo adventure in the Balkans in 2022 travelling through Hungary, Bosnia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. It was nothing but an amazing experience, I’ve made some lifelong friendships, and I love meeting people and explore what their lives and home town is like. I went on to travel more of Turkey & India for the next 7 months.

After being on the road for 11 months, I wanted to do more things outside of my comfort zone. So I decided to strip away money in my travels while doing things outside of my comfort zone. Currently, I’m hitchhiking from London to Istanbul by only trading red bull cans for food, shelter, transport and an activity that gets my heart racing in every city that I visit.

In recent years, it seems like the world is falling apart from negative media. For that reason, I wanted this journey to also showcase the kindness of the world. All while documenting the entire journey on my socials :)

I wasn’t always the person that I am. Growing up I always did things others expected of me. At the breaking point, I started reading self help and self improvement books that gave me self confidence. Slowly but surely, I started believing in my own abilities. That in itself, is one of reasons why I travel.

Deep inside, what intrigued me is learning about different cultures, customs, and way of living that shape the world we have, because without diversity, there wouldn’t be curiosity. That curiosity is what gave me the courage to solo travel.
