Just returned from a year-long trip around the world...now it's time for a nap!

ABOUT ME

As a husband and wife traveling team, we've spent the last 15 years stretching our travel wings as well as our dollars and euros. We're avid divers, hikers, and part time coffee and wine connoisseurs. We can feel at home in the big city or the vast stretch of natural landscapes, and love to meet new people and experience new things at every turn of the trip. We consider ourselves very lucky to have the opportunity to travel and love to share stories and advice with like minded travelers who want to experience the true nature of travel.

PHILOSOPHY

What you take away from your traveling experience is directly related to how you view your place among your surroundings. If you're not open minded enough to accept what's in front of you, then you will limit your ability to be a positive part of the experience. Oh, and try to treat others as you want to be treated. This works regardless of differences in religion, ethnicity, gender, or political views.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately, we found Couchsurfing after starting our yearlong tour of the world, so we've only had the pleasure of being surfers. But we're looking forward to hosting as soon as we return home!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We're relatively new to couchsurfing as 'surfers', but our experiences up until now have been nothing short of amazing! We've been extremely lucky to have stayed with incredible people from completely different backgrounds and are eternally grateful for their hospitality and kindness to us. As far as being hosts, we're waiting to return to our home in Porto, Portugal to return all of the kindness and generosity that we've received, but in the eyes of our friends and family, living in several European countries over the last 3 years has made us an attractive alternative to typical lodging for them. We try, as hosts, to accommodate anyone who wants to visit, and in the last 3 years or so while living in Madrid, we had the privilege to host many friends and family members and loved each and every experience!

Interests

We enjoy hiking and trekking, diving, exploring new cities, foods, and cultures. We're flexible people with a natural curiosity for the unknown and unseen. Diving in the Red Sea, climbing Mt. Sinai for a sunrise view, you name it, we'll probably try it at least once (excluding anything involving a parachute or bungee rope...even the most adventurous have their personal limits!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many things that we've seen in the last 17 years that there are about 150 different instances that we can think of right off the bat...but we'll be happy to share them with friends! Travel is all about the new and interesting!!! We've really been so lucky to have met so many great people and seen so many awesome places - from the Middle East to Eastern Europe to Oceania to South America...there's just so much to see and do that it's really impossible to see it all, but we're giving it our best shot nonetheless!!!
