About Me

I'm into intentional community, gardening, permaculture, empathy, compassionate communication/being, racial dynamics, and culture change.

I'm of Indian origin, born and raised in the U.S. Recently, I completed a 6-year personal research project diving into people's alternative lifestyles. This involved visiting and living in intentional communities and experiments in sustainable living around the world, to experience new ways of living. For example, I lived in a reforestation project/ sustainable living community in India, helped garden and build earthen houses in U.S. ecovillages, hitchhiked sailboats in the Caribbean (not as glamorous as it sounds) as part of an effort to travel sustainably, and stayed in an amazing Marxist income-sharing commune in Germany. Before that, I worked as a solar engineer in the Bay Area (San Francisco area) for 2 years, which funded the whole thing. I feel incredibly lucky to have had these experiences, and now I feel a stronger than ever desire to root down and build a life in one place. I moved to DC in 2016 and so far, this is that place.
