About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be good to myself and to be good to others!

ABOUT ME

My best friends would say I'm the most outgoing person they know. I will talk to anyone, anywhere at any time. Being from the Midwest of the United States (Ohio to be exact), means that I'm friendly and have good manners. They would also say that I'm tons of fun - and no, I didn't have to bribe them to say that about me. I truly enjoy life, and what a crazy ride it truly is!

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is kindness. - Dalai Lama

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to the CS community and very intrigued by the concept. Due to my current living situation with a roommate, I'm unable to host but hope to have my own place eventually and host surfers. In the meantime, I'd like to meet up with people from all over and show them what a wonderful city Washington, DC is!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None...yet!

Interests

My interests vary greatly. I am part-jock, part-musician, part-dancer, part-linguist, part-world traveller. It's hard to put me into a box. I spend my time making men cry in an ice hockey league every week, teaching people how to dance (latin dancing is my forte), practicing my guitar, rock climbing, riding my bike, watching foreign movies and plotting my next adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - As an aspiring singer/guitar player I love acoustic music... with interesting instrumentation. So if it has an accordion, fiddle or banjo, I'm definitely interested.
Movies - foreign mostly. Amores Perros, Amelie and Once rank very high up there.
Books - Three Cups of Tea, Handmaid's Tale and the Alchemist to name some favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I will never forget a humbling experience that happened to me in Mexico City. I went to a house party with friends and there was a man in a wheelchair who was the most incredible dancer I've ever seen. He was using one hand to spin his partner and the other hand to move his chair to the music. I felt both humbled and inspired by him - Mexico is not a disability-friendly country.

I went to Porto Seguro, Brazil for a dance festival and I've never danced so much in my entire life. We danced all day at workshops, went home to nap for just a bit, went back and danced from midnight until 6 am. Then we sat on the beach and watched the sun rise... and did it all again for 7 days straight!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach dance (salsa, merengue, Brazilian zouk, bachata and most ballroom dances), languages (Spanish Portuguese and English) and ice skating!

I want to learn more guitar, singing, yoga and ballet.
