About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear" - Buddha

ABOUT ME

Most people I know would classify me as an information junkie (I constantly consume information on the internet and via books). I love learning new things and trying new experiences from skydiving, Running of the Bulls in Spain, a new language, how to cook a new dish, or how hedge funds work.

The world around us is extremely fascinating to me.
Almost everyday I feel like a child in candy store, but the candy in the store is life, people, different cultures, information, etc.

I would also describe myself as a software engineer at heart who looks at C++/Perl/XQuery/Java/C# code all day, loves philosophy (Aristotle, Nietzsche, Kant), loves to find out how things work (from singularities in a black hole to chemistry to fashion to fine art to electron microscopes ).I also like wine tastings, politics, and sculpture and much more.

I am very laid back, and my general attitude/philosophy in life, is to go with the flow. I really cant think of almost anything in this world that would ever upset me. Life to me is a gift, and I try to enjoy every moment of it to its fullest extent.

PHILOSOPHY

The only absolute, is that there is no absolute.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books: Selfish Gene, Cosmos, Logic Book, Society of the Mind,Brief History of Time, Conceptual Spaces, Parallel Universes, Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo, anything by Nietzsche

Movies: Into the Wild, Vanilly Sky, Donnie Darko, Shawshank Redemption, The Beach, Walk Hard : Dewey Cox, Apocolyspe Now, Fight Club

Music: I truly love all types of music (from Morrissey to Sneakerpimps to Meat Katie) and listen to Breaks , electronic, Drum & bass, Trance, Techno, Downtempo, mashup (bastard pop -> bootiesf.com), rock, country, alternative, the unclassifiable (i.e:Sigur Ros) etc.. In short, I love almost all types of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam with dolphins, running with the bulls in Pamplona Spain, skydived, driven across the US with people I met 3 days prior to leaving, roughed it in Costa Rica for fun. Life isnt a spectator sport if you ask me (unless you're a sheep).

Also, I've gone to Burning Man in Nevada every year since 2004 and it is one of things I look forward to the most every year.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I could teach you (if you have a curious mental disposition) that I know:

Software engineering knowledge (I can start from the most basic level : one(1) and zero(0) and teach you everything up to how the internet routes packets of data to how to create a webpage to how a CPU works.

Philosophy - Bertrand Russell, Nietzsche, Socrates, etc.

Quantum Physics - Quarks, Leptons, Bosons, atomic configurations, force carrier particles ... lets discuss

Politics - Campaign finance reform, capital gains loopholes, war machine, healthcare, political figures, etc. I love it all

Art - Sculpture, pencil, oil paintings, etc - Had a scholarship for my art skills (though I didnt take it), but I still have a big place in my heart for it.

Pop culture - Sadly, my mental fishnet retains most of the information flowing through it.

Music - I played the saxaphone for 6 years, but currently I am a huge lover of all types of music. I especially like to attempt to discern why certain songs are "good" or pleasing to ones ear.

Other topics I could share: Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, biological consciousness, time in our universe (from a picosecond to a terasecond (wiki that if you're curious)), and much more ...

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
