ABOUT ME
Where mainstream meets the fringe. I'm on a quest to get myself to a point where I can work remotely, travel, surf, veg out whenever I want. So far, I'm teaching online classes for a community college and trading stocks and options. I've got some other projects in the works that don't tie me to a desk.
I'm pretty passionate about outdoor stuff, especially backpacking. Recent trips include Catalina Island, Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, Big Bend, and a trip coming up in Rocky Mountain National Park. Am I dirty all the time? No. I do enjoy being clean and doing 'city dwelling activities' as well. Recently got into craft beers...yum.
Life moments listed below...
I have left a drag show with glitter on my face, lived in a van, run a marathon, built stoves from beer cans, come in second place in the Texas State Fiar Casserole contest, jumped cliffs, been a kickball champion, made pickles, and more to be added soon. I really get into challenging myself with new stuff...the next might be building my own furniture, making bacon or starting a garden.
PHILOSOPHY
Ask 'why?'... and 'why not?'
Clarity and amazing experiences come from both questions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just scored a great new house just south of downtown Dallas with an extra bedroom for surfers. Looking to host and find interesting folks in amazing places to visit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Newbie... Looking for a gentle Mrs. Robinson. Been to a couple meet-ups in Dallas and met some super cool folks and starting to learn that Dallas doesn't get many surfers...big bummer! This place rocks..kinda.

Music, Movies, and Books
In all honesty, I haven't owned a TV in 5 years or so. I like to listen to talk radio and read blogs. Just got a couple books for my birthday about 'tiny houses'. I do read other things besides picture books, but nothing too thought provoking.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took a couple months off of 'traditional life' last summer, bought a van, took out the seats and put in a bed, storage, seat, sink, etc. Took it out across the soutwest to LA for a wedding, backpacked in Catalina, hiked in Joshua Tree and Big Bend, another wedding in Phoenix, took in a music festival in Marfa (TX), then settled back into Dallas.
Teach, Learn, Share
I actually know quite a bit about stock options if anybody dares to be as big a geek as me.
