About Me
Talking about myself is weird, but I have to because if I don't maybe you think that I don't really exist or that I am a weirdo (maybe I am).
My name is Dandara, I'm 20 and I live in Olinda, Brazil. Olinda is the "sister" of Recife, the capital of my state, Pernambuco. The cities are connected, if you are a tourist you probably will not notice the frontier.
Olinda and Recife are sisters, but not twins. Recife has the big city complex, lots of buildings and malls, and Olinda is more historical, with old houses, lots of churches and a characteristic architecture. I LOVE both of them and I will be very glad to share my tips. So feel free to ask, ok? :)
I was born and raised in Recife, but for a short time I lived in São Luis, the capital of Maranhão and Belém, the capital of Pará. Both are good cities, but my life started in Recife, It was weird moving out of nothing, specially because I was a kid. And because I was o I kid, I don’t have memories about those two cities to share with you.
It's cliche but as an advertising student I can assure you that I'm very comunicative, open minded and not shy at all. But if you consider yourself an introspective person, don't worry because I'm not inconvenient :P
Obviously I love travelling (I think everyone here does) but I don't have enough re$ource$ to travel as much as I want to (yet). I started to manage my own money recently, and I pretend to invest it in travels around the world, because I think that travelling is the only REALLY good and special thing money can give you.
My dream trips are: Japan, All you can do in 30 days in Europe and a road trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco. But if you ask me I actually want to travel the world, with no exceptions. When comes to travel, I try to evolve and expand my horizons everyday.
I have been able to visit some brazilian capitals (not as much as I intend to, because Brazil is a giant country) like São Paulo and Salvador, and the United States, traveling to Orlando, Miami and New York City. I will probably give NYC another visit, if I have the chance (I have to watch Wicked at Broadway).
I take planning travel very seriously and sometimes (all the time) I get more anxious than I should. But I'm working on it. At least I try. But it's hard.
By now, you should know that I love travelling, so let's talk about what I enjoy doing in my free time: I play video games, rewatching movies that I've seen a thousand times, talk shit with my friends, scroll the Facebook timeline for ages.. As you can see, I am a pro at procrastinating when I'm home. When I travel I automatically turn into a different person, someone crazy that wants to visit every museum in town, walk without a destination, make friends while in lines, excited about everything. Resuming, I am really open minded and always ready to leave my comfort zone.
RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:
- My zodiac sign is Libra and I'm really into astrology.
- When possible, I always wear black.
- The only TV show I watched till the end was How I Met You Mother. And I liked the finale, don't judge.
- I'm a dog person, some cats scare me.
- My favorite games are: The Sims, Fallout and Stardew Valley.
- I am vegetarian.
- If I was born a Kardashian, I would probably be Kylie Jenner.
- I don't drink any soda and love tea.
- I appreciate a good and super not healthy junk food.
:)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I created my profile to have a chance to meet people of all sorts of nationalities, discuss about travelling and exchange some culture.
Interests
I don't wanted to be repetitive but I'm very interested in travelling hahaha I also LOVE cooking and baking, specially pasta and cakes!
When traveling I always want to have the best local cultural experience and appreciate art and historical buildings. Visiting museus and contemplating the local architecture really connects me to the place I am visiting, that's why I give it so much value. So, if you are traveling with me, be prepared to walk some serious kilometers.
When I'm able to travel, I feel very grateful and privileged, because I know that traveling is not that cheap and it's something not everyone can afford.

Music, Movies, and Books
Here is a list of my favorite movies: The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Star Wars, Les Mis, Harry Potter, Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Funny Face, Coco Before Chanel, Her, Back to the Future, The Notebook, Grease, Forrest Gump, Fried Green Tomatoes, My Fair Lady, Rocky Horror Picture Show, all Disney and Studio Ghibli animations :) As you can see, I am a big fan of musicals and comedy/romance movies. Actually I liked every movie I ever saw, because I get easily involved by the plot, even if it clearly sucks. The only movie that I really HATED and couldn't bear watching till the end was Spring Breakers, worst movie EVER.
My music: In general, I like the soundtrack of every musical I said before hahaha I also enjoy a bit of Frank Sinatra and every pop music that hit the charts, mostly because they're very catchy. Don't judge me, I know you cant take Despacito out of your mind.
And if you want to listen to some brazilian pop music, try searching for Anitta on Spotify. She will take over the world.
Books: I have to be honest with you, at the moment I'm not really into books, I lost the routine. When I was younger I used to spend hours of my day reading books like Harry Potter, but when I grew up I kinda lost the habit. I am not proud of it, ok?
My problem with TV shows: I love TV shows, the problem is that there is thousands of options and I can't focus on one show and watch it till ends, I start BILLIONS of shows and can't finish them. Right now I am watching La Casa de Papel and I’m loving it.
List of TV shows I started to watch and liked, but didn't finished: Revenge, Sherlock, Glee, Pretty Little Liars, Doctor Who, Orange is the New Black, Modern Family, Suburgatory, Lost, Once Upon a Time, Drop Dead Diva, Gossip Girl, The OC, 90210, Skins, Game of Thrones, Bojack the Horseman, Breaking Bad, Arrow, Flash, That 70's show. Probably there is more, but I can't remember.
