About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cycle through Europe, see the tour de france then head for Africa

ABOUT ME

I am travelling the world, or a small part thereof, after completing 5 and a half years of law school.

I worked my final year of university as a support worker for university students with a disability which was a fantastic experience and has also given me the funds to travel!

I am also a volunteer firefighter with the CFA in Victoria and have combated several house and bush fires.

I am really keen to make friends in different parts of the world and learn about a place from a locals perspective!

PHILOSOPHY

We exist on a tiny rock whirling around a ball of hydrogen. We are all travellers on the same ship and so I think it is incumbent on us to be kind and compassionate to our fellow beings, human or otherwise. Beyond this, we have only the shortest time to exist, and so I want to make the best use of the time I have, to learn, understand and grow as a person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not sure how to answer this. As I am travelling I'm looking for couches at this stage, rather than providing them. I'd like to think any surfing experience wouldn't be a one directional thing and that I could help my host in some way, and make my stay a benefit to them as well as to myself.

Interests

I love to hike and camp. I'm a keen DIYer, and will try to make something or repair it myself where possible.

I am passionate about the environment and animal welfare.

I also love aussie rules football, and pretty much any sport for that matter.

I'm a bit of a nerd, I build computers and usually run linux. I'm pretty handy at computer repairs also.

Music... I'll try pretty much anything but my favourite genres are jazz, fusion, progressive rock and metal and a bit of clasical too.

When it comes to reading I usually go for non fiction, either philosophical, historical or scientific works. Also read a bit of fantasy, Tolkien, George RR Martin etc

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Twelve Angry Men, Good Night And Goodluck, Argo, the good the bad and the ugly, Lawrence of arabia, heaps others.

Music: Jazz, fusion, prog rock, prog metal, classical

Books: Anything by Dostoyevski, especially Crime and punishment. I also read a fair amount of philosophy, history and some fantasy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most fun and exhilarating experience I've had was doing an internal attack on a big restaurant fire last year.

Best travel experiences, moto touring Laos with some new friends, sharing vodka and mangoes with local army guys at a park in Vietnam while trying to communicate with mimes, staying with a Hmong family in Sapa.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of IT skills and DIY skills, I can sew a bit and I've done a lot of training in firefighting disciplines (not that that will be relevant to most). I would love to share whatever skills I have that might be useful to others.
