About Me

ABOUT ME

I've been backpacking for about as long as I can remember. From Peru for a summer to England, and Ecuador to Brazil, I have learned so much about foreign cultures from my interactions with the locals. I love learning new languages, hiking and meeting new people.

Since college, I worked for a bit in Washington DC with Latin American banks. After a while, I was ready for a change, and decided to spend 2015 in Brazil teaching English at a university in the Recife.

In 2016, I settled back in New York City, and have been working for Indeed.com ever since. I love working at a company whose main goal is to help people get jobs!

I recently tied the knot with my long-time girlfriend and I'm lucky that she loves traveling and experiencing new things as much as I do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I can't look myself in the mirror and see a full-fledged tourist. I love immersing myself in the local culture of wherever I am in order to have the most authentic experience possible.

Interests

I often bike, learn new languages, travel to far away countries. While some might say it's random, I'm fascinated by indigenous politics and culture of the Andes in South America.

As someone who has spent a good amount of time in Latin America, I have grown to love beaches, but given that I am very inclined to get sunburned, I am more of a sunset at the beach kind of person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu - that time I thought I was getting frost bite at 14,000 feet in the Salkantay Mountains of Peru, but had an incredible final ascent to Machu Picchu and survived to tell the tale.
