About Me

A humble and down-to-earth engineer, a local Hanoian, an Oz alumnus came back to his homeland after lived and studied almost 3 years in Melbourne. Now working and living in Hanoi based on a minuscule size of wage but the gist is how to live happily without financial pressure, still figuring out tho...
Planning to learn art coffee/cooking as I feel it's interesting and may be valuable for my future. Up for drinking coffee everyday and beers on weekends. I don't favour to drink a lot but in my experience, getting a decent amount of alcohol helps people easier to share their own stories.
Everyday feel regret of not participating in Mars-1 program, an one-way ticket to explore it. Anyway, travel to every countries on planet Earth seems not a too bad compensation. My dream!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Attempting to make my life less pathetic and more meaningful by seeing people smile.
Sharing tips and advice with people who would like to explore where I came previously. Giving is far better than getting!
How to guide you to survive and enjoy Hanoi? Tons of nuisance awaiting you: crossing the road, traffic jam etc, same to limitless number of joys.

Interests

Travelling and camping: I have travelled to most of the provinces in Vietnam, my job has contributed a major part to as I often do field mapping projects. Having said that, it's funny that I'm so bad at remembering locations because always depends on GPS. I also travelled to some nice countries like Taiwan, Singapore, Russia but the best, my personal view, is still Melbourne and Australia where I got various amazing road trips too.

Coffee: there are heaps of amazing coffee shops in Hanoi that hidden in a small house or only able to access via a tiny lane/alley, typical old Hanoi trait I guess. Life here is just so simple just rolling around only. In the mean time, I am missing Melbourne's cappuccino pretty much. Most of the days in 3 years I lived there I took it in the morning!

Pho: Pho in Melbourne in the eye of Vietnamese it not really decent Pho. In Hanoi there are thousands of Pho but to be served the correct recipe, no one can guide you as good as a Hanoian.

Beer (Old quarter corner where I can see people from all over the world drinking and chatting that make me recall the time in Melbourne). In addition, while sitting there, eating some local foods is a must. Shook fries, fried fermented pork roll, squid and other can spoil us easily.

Playing soccer every week and watching tennis, mostly Grand Slams and ATPs. A big fan of Manchester United and Brazil national football team since I was a kid. Dzokovjc and Federer.

Dota2 is also my favourite game.

A dog lover. I'm not into cats much bcz I think they only consider human as their slaves with undeniable duties are feeding and scratching them lolz

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled 6,000km from Melbourne to Uluru and back.
Drifted a super perfect circle while 2 of my friends were nearly suffering a heart-attack in the backseats in a breezy Melbourne's night! My car was a shit box FYI!

Teach, Learn, Share

Major in geographic information systems, cartography and remote sensing so if you have the similar we may share some skills and knowledge.

I was born and grew up in Hanoi so I can show you some good view spots, good local eating and drinking as well as tips of how to make an unforgettable tour in Vietnam. From the 1st sec you arrive at the airport and wondering how to get to the inner city. I guess I can contribute some exp.
