Overview
About Me
Ever since I was born, I've lived a calm, peaceful, but nevertheless full and happy life in a tiny and beautiful country in Eastern Europe. At some point I wanted to get a second BA, had to pay for that and had no money, so I decided I'll go to London, get a summer job and earn some. Crying I left Vilnius, because I loved it and never wanted to leave it, even for a couple of months. What happened next? Sixteen, clumsy and shy I went to London and died...
PHILOSOPHY
I will be repeating myself now, but well - to be excited about simple things, as I don't know any other way to be happy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love meeting all kinds of people from all around the world, so there really must be something serious so that I would say no to a trip, or someone willing to stay at my place. And I'm sure CS is an incredibly great community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed and hosted people wherever I traveled and lived. I had the best times ever, met amazing people and then didn't want to part with them, and anyways, I would never exchange CS to staying in any 5 star hotel..
Interests
I left a piece of my heart in every city I've ever lived. That results in cultural identity issues.
Os falantes da língua portuguesa são particularmente bem-vindos.
I have a love and hate relationship with Italy (more love, though)
- theater
- politics
- languages
- food
- feminism
Music, Movies, and Books
Music - it can be almost any genre, but it has to be of particular quality. I listen to melancholic singer/songwriter stuff with deep poetic meanings or classical.
Independent cinema most of the time, although I might sometimes go and see a silly Hollywood movie with popcorn or get hooked on Netflix.
I learned to read when I was 3, never stopped since then.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Arena di Verona to listen to a performance of Verdi's Nabucco. It started when the darkness fell, and the whole arena lit up candles, then the only things you could see where those tiny lights and stars above, and some of the tallest church towers of Verona. Some people where walking around selling ice-cream, wine and pillows to sit on. The actual performance wasn't the best, but who cares, they brought a real horse to the stage, and when the time came, the whole audience joined the choir in singing the famous Va, pensiero. For me it was a bit funny, but then nothing else to do, just admire the view and the atmosphere and to join in :) (...sull'ali dora-a-ate...)
A bit later in my life in one small town in Southern Italy I have seen square flat white roof tops and TV antenas sticking out of them, and pale orange sky of dawn, and as strange as it might sound, I think that was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Then..
Travelled from New York to LA on Greyhound busses.
Hiked the Landamanalaugar trail in Iceland.
Spent days and days on the train across Russia on the Transiberian railway.
Faced extreme conditions during a hike in Chiloe island, Chile and was rescued by local fishermen.
Got my project accepted for a PhD in Linguistics - forever super happy about it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I do a lot of linguistic observations and then share them, hoping that people are interested. And I like comparing things in different countries.
Can teach Lithuanian or Italian.
I used to know lots about classical music.
