About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To try and make the world a better place through love of the planet (people and places)
ABOUT ME
We are Dani and Sam, who met in Canada and have a love of simple sustainable living.
I (Dani) am a school garden teacher at a primary school and environmental educator, and Sam is an environmental education officer.
A couple of years ago we traveled from Britain to Adelaide, Australia without taking any flights so we did a lot of train travel. It was an amazing adventure meeting wonderful people on the way.
PHILOSOPHY
Wow, what a question. Hopefully you get an idea of what we are about from our interests, or even better, during a stay.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We travelled with couchsurfing in Japan, central Europe (The Alps) and now Scandinavia.
CouchSurfing meant that we had such a great local perspective, as well as discussing weird and wonderful things about any country we were in.
Interests
We like: growing veg, camping, cycling, travelling, making soap, hiking, nature, reading, and sustainable living (see photos!).
Dani likes: house plants, volunteering, chocolate, British TV, sleeping, knitting and sewing, yoga, dancing.
Sam likes: photography (I love nothing more than exploring an area to take photos), carving spoons, cooking (especially curries), brewing beer, drinking beer (particularly local beer) making bread, snowboarding, longboarding.
As a couple with different nationalities we both really enjoy learning about new cultures and think of ourselves as an international couple.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing things we have done because of couchsurfing:
Visiting hot springs in Beppu, Japan late at night, in a remote place only locals know
Tasting balsamic vinegar as old as we are in the hot attic of a local producer in Modena, Italy
Watching short films in Munich's Olympic Park while our host whispered us the translations and we drank some of the best beer in the world
Teach, Learn, Share
We can both teach cold-process soap making, and give tips on setting up a garden and growing vegetables.
Sam - can teach spoon carving, how to play 'the train' on harmonica, how to cook various types of food (but especially curries), and how to make cycling a better experience (I am a cycle trainer)
Dani - can teach how to darn socks, how to cut a man's hair, and answer lots of questions to do with geography
