About Me

I’m 37 and travelling with my Partner Daniel. We are not currently hosting but intend to when we return to Australia 🇦🇺

Danica - I am a travel agent with my own business. I’ve been a travel agent since 2009 when I was let go from my previous job for travelling too much!
Since having my business I’ve also worked a second job with the Australian Federal Government and also as a pharmacy assistant, dance teacher and at a tourist attraction in my hometown of Ballarat, Victoria Australia.
I love hiking, travel, Pilates and yoga though my practice hasn’t been great. I also enjoy reading, learning and understanding all sorts of different cultures.
Super fun fact - I have allergies to onion, garlic, ginger, most. citrus fruits and uncooked tomato - A chefs worst nightmare I'm sure.

Daniel - I am a primary and high school music classroom teacher from Australia. I have taught private guitar lessons, but was a jack of all trades in the music classroom teaching students from 8-15 years old on a range of instruments. The guitar is my first instrument and I love playing guitar learning new songs. I can also play bass, ukulele, basic drums and keyboard,
I also love practsing and learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have 4 stripes on my white belt and have been practsing for a few years.
Have travelled in the past but not been on a big trip for a few years, last time I spent 10 months in and around South America. I met so many interesting locals, ate so much great food, learnt some spanish and shared many great experiences. Love travelling and meeting the locals and finding out what it's like for them in their hometown. Am also a high beginner in Spanish and love learning new words, phrases and conversing in the language.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My partner and I are travelling around the world and love to meet interesting people and be immersed in different cultures - the locals, the food, the different perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books

Danica - Foo Fighters, Alex Cameron, Julieta Villegas, Joey and Joy, Pete Murray, some other Rock and Metal stuff, Dropkick Murphys and pretty much anything I can sing along to. I love business and finance podcasts too - learning about new ways and changes within the financial world.

Books, I read a lot of books, but lots of genres but my favourites are Harry Potter, anything by Bella Andre, Adrienne Woods, Alexandra Moody, Joanna Homer, Chris Kenniston, and I've read things like. Matthew Mcconaughey's Greenlights, Michael J Fox's book, The Midnight Library and Atomic Habits.

My favourite movies are Harry Potter series, Now and Then, most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Encanto. and I love watching a good RomCom.
TV wise, we stream a bit of stuff but I love True Blood, Game. of Thrones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and I guess a lot more fantasy stuff with a basis of truth behind it.

Daniel - love lots of different styles of music and love being showed new music, some favourites are: Alex Cameron, Radiohead, Juanes, Theo Katzman, Vulfpeck, Weezer, Strokes, Misfits, Alice in Chains, Arctic Monkeys (early albums). It's usually easier to say the genres as it is hard as a music teacher to tell you every single artist/group I like. So the styles of music. I love are: funk/disco, soul, blues, rock, grunge, heavy metal, punk, reggae, pop, indie, alternative, some cool jazz like Miles Davis, Paul Desmond, etc, bossa nova, salsa and latin.

My favourite style of books are usually dystopian novels or. ones. that make you think like: 1984, A Handmaid's Tale, Animal Farm, Island - Aldous Huxley, Man's Search for Meaning - Victor Frankel, some stoic philosophy like Meditations - Marcus Aurelius and Seneca, Stephen King books - the older ones are better but loved The Dark Tower series a lot, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit,

My favourite movies are: Pulp Fiction, anything by Tarrantino, the Lord of the Rings. trilogy, The Batman Nolan Trilogy, Gatatica, Richard Linklater's work like: Waking Life, A Scanner Darkly, Boyhood, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, then any Marvel movies - huge nerd although haven't been a huge fan of the recent movies after EndGame.
