About Me

I'm a 22 year old tour guide from Sydney, Australia. I love travel! (but that should go without saying. Is there anyone on this website who doesn't love travel?)

I'm pretty chill and easy going, but also very organised and together. MY friends say that I'm the one with coherent and rational thought, and I usually end up as the mother hen who organises everything.

My personal philosophy would be "do what you like, just don't be a dick about it", and I generally try to live my life by being a dick as little as possible. It's worked out pretty well so far.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend and I are going to the Netherlands for 2 weeks for a post-uni trip. We;re mostly staying with my family, but we wanted three nights in Amsterdam by ourselves, so we could explore the city and its night-life better, and logistically, staying in Amsterdam makes that much easier. Hostels are expensive and sometimes really gross, so we wanted to stay somewhere that we knew would be clean and we would be welcomed. We also wanted to meet someone who knows the city really well, and can gives us some pointers on where to go out.

Interests

I'm an amateur actor and comedian, I also paint and draw, but not as much as I should.

I love history, I've been studying history since high school, and I love to learn the history and heritage of any city I'm in. I became a tour guide so I could learn more about my own city and share that with others!

I'm learning Dutch to connect more with my heritage on my Mum's side, although I'm also half Italian and Maltese on my Dad's side. Big ol' melting pot!

I love to cook, but I love to eat and drink more. I pretty much eat and drink my way through any city or country I'm in- it's the best way to get to know a culture I think!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love alternative rock, but am also partial to pop, hip hop and techno. Just no metal. Heavy metal is ear poison. But I'm pretty easy. :)

My favourite films would probably be Australian films. They're quirky and funny and interesting. But I also really like high fantasy and sci-fi. Bit of a nerd.

Post-Apocalypse/Dystopian Future novels are my jam! 1984, Brave New World, The Handmaid's Tale... I love seeing humanity cave in on itself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably my 4.5 month trip around Europe in 2013.

I need to do more stuff...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can give you an intimate and detailed knowledge of Sydney and Australian post-colonial history. I can also give you a list of stuff to do in Sydney, should you ever visit.

I can make you an excellent breakfast. Or meal of choice. and I probably will, to say thank you for letting us stay with you, kind person.

I will also bring you Tim Tams. Never had a Tim Tam? They'll blow your damn mind. (They're a biscuit.)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland
