Overview
About Me
I enjoy good conversation, good food (or other vittles), good wine and scotch (or other libations), good books, good thinks, good adventures. You know, good stuff.
I've studied a bit of neuroscience, of medicine, and philosophy. I'm interested in understanding who we are and why we do what we do, especially in empirical terms...and I enjoy thinking about what it means to be "empirical" in the first place. I've written some stuff that's somewhere online.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Curiosity. In Oct or Nov, I read Michael Crichton's Travels and was reminded I needed to travel more, experience more. I enjoy meeting new people and having good conversion with them. Plus, hotels and even Airbnb is too expensive!
Interests
I have many--anything sciency or insightful is typically interesting to me. I also think modes of expression are interesting...you know, how people speak, what types of art they like. Oh, one of the coolest things is brain development, that a bunch of neurons can create a person. That's pretty interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not very good at finishing books and forget I'm reading one and pick up another that looks cool. Books I've been reading or read in the last month (12/14): the Satanic Verses, Doors of Perception, the Da Vinci Code, A field guide for science writers, On Bullshit, The Drunkard's Walk.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once upon a time, I snuck into the Vatican. Shhh...
Teach, Learn, Share
Generally, I feel like I don't know much about anything in particular. But if you have a question, I could probably find an answer.
