About Me

I'm somebody who just likes to think about stuff, I guess. It's a bit hard to label it. I like to debate things and develop new perspectives. I like to learn stuff and figure stuff out, pretty much.

As I have just graduated, I'm trying to figure out what it is that I should do. I want to travel and see many places, so I'd have to coordinate everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was recommended this by a friend, who said that I can meet a bunch of great people who will let me spend time with them and show me their neighborhood and way of life. It sounded tremendously interesting, as I would love to experience a more "real" sense of things when traveling, rather than the "tourist" lifestyle of living in a hotel and not seeing how the people there live. I hope to find people with whom I can connect and become friends. It will certainly enrich the time spent in a given place.

Interests

I like to read, whether it be philosophical, mathematical/scientific, or even some novels (although those are borderline philosophical as well, haha).

I love riding my bike. Truly adore it.

I'm also currently trying to teach myself French, as knowing just one language as of now is cutting me off from so much.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's hard to say which genres of music I like. I typically say that "I like what I like." To limit myself based on a genre is a bit foolish in that I haven't listened to all of the genre and they even differ within. However, when I do listen to music, it's either ambient electronic music, or 80s pop; the latter is more of a goofy thing, but I love it nonetheless and will probably sing to it if I feel comfortable.

For movies, I want to watch "the good movies". If it has really good ratings, I will check it out. I've most recently watch "Pulp Fiction", and I don't get the hype about it, but it was definitely a nice watch. A few of my favorite movies, from various genres, are "Wall-E", "Spirited Away", "Trainspotting", and "Peter Jackson's King Kong". But as with Music, and probably with Books, it's nearly impossible to list them all.

Lastly, for books. As far as favorites, I really like Aldous Huxley, although I definitely haven't read much by him. I'm currently reading "Point Counter Point", and I feel that it may be one of the most important books I've read to date. I do like dystopian stories, and other philosophically dense literature, but I haven't gotten around to much lately since I've been taking my time with this book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I've been in France for two months and so far I'd say that's been amazing. It's essentially the first time that I've left the US on my own, especially to another continent. Also, very recently I just passed the DELF B2. It was difficult, but I've succeeded and that opens up many opportunities for me, so that's pretty damn amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what exactly I can teach, or learn. I feel like such things are passive for me, as far as I am concerned. I can share insight and alternative perspectives for things, hopefully share a quality time with the person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope that I can share a wonderful time with the host, by discussing ideas and learning stuff from them (and hopefully the converse, too). I'm not the best cook, but I'll give it my best, so I can offer some help or whip up a meal from home or wherever.
