About Me

I am a fourth year teacher at a small private school in Atlanta, Georgia. I joined the Couchsurfing community in 2013 when I began co-hosting surfers through my friend Mitchell. Unfortunately, I have been unable to host because my living conditions have been rather inconsistant, and I do not have the consent of those who live with me.

As a traveler I am autonomous and self-reliant, but I relish opportunities to see the world as others do, so I am always interested in experiencing the world alongside others.

Much of my life and how I live it finds its source in the thoughts of authors like Leo Tolstoy:

"If once we admit, be it only for an hour or in some exceptional case, that anything can be more important than a feeling of love for our fellows, then there is no crime which we may not commit with easy minds. ... Men think there are circumstances when one may deal with human beings without love. But there are no such circumstances." Leo Tolstoy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel for all of the welcome challenges it can bring, for all of the moments of introspection it offers, and for all the moments shared with people who are different from me. I travel to enrich my life, and so that I can better enrich the lives of those around me at home.

I love listening to stories, and asking questions, and beholding beauty in many of its forms. I think that a place is defined by its people as much as a place defines the people. I love Couchsurfing because it provides a network through which I can encounter people from the place they define.

Ultimately, I travel so that I can grow as a human being.

Interests

I think all of my interests stem from a desire to learn from, and understand, the world around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
Anna Karenina, The Brothers Karamazov, A Little Life, A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl, Midaq Alley, A Farewell to Arms, The Perks of Being A Wallflower, East of Eden, and Abundance, The Stranger, 1984.

I love music of all kinds, and sharing music is a precious act for me. Here are a few bands I love deeply:

Sigur Ros, Sufjan Stevens, Sylvan Esso, Washed Out, Andrew Bird, Kendrick Lamar, Kishi Bashi, Beach House, Sleater Kinney, The National, First Aid Kit.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that moments are the best things that one human can share with another. I welcome anyone who is willing to do so with me. History, Poetry, Writing, and Music are the stuff of great conversation and I can always discuss such topics!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to share meals, moments, and music with others. Most of my keepsakes from encounters are memories with people who were present with me, so I aim to be invested in the people around me, even if it is only for a day.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Haiti, Hungary, Italy, Nicaragua, Spain, Turkey, United States
