About Me

Names Dan I'm 35 and travelling throughout my early 20s (21) til I was 31 was all I ever really thought about and did in life

The YouTube link to have a look at some past travel experiences is below.

Well Over a decade ago I set myself a goal and that was to complete at least 7 wonders of the world 🌎.

Within those 10 years, I closed the number at over 30 world wonders and touched down on 6 out of the 7 continents.

In the not so distance future, I do plan on doing and setting off to Antarctica to officially make it 7 out of 7 but when that is going to happen I have no clue I'm currently putting all my time and money into renovating my house 🏠 and that is another journey within in itself.

My ambitious and sparky young self made it a real personal mission to conquer the world 🌎 (didn't we all say that at 20 haha 😆) and I truly gave it my all and honestly I didn't do too bad within that time frame.

The biggest travel adventures and most memorable the years off would be ✨️.

Just over 2 weeks diving in the Galapagos Islands 🏝
Ecuador 🇪🇨.

Spent 12 days Hiking to Everest base camp with my brother In Nepal 🇳🇵

Spending time in Iceland 🇮🇸 and Finland 🇫🇮 chasing the northern lights.

Sneaked into Russia 🇷🇺 haha (wouldn't do that in today's world but hey there was no protected border between Russia and Finland back in the early pre-COVID days.

16 days hiking 🚶‍♂️ through the Amazon rainforest in Peru 🇵🇪.

2 months travelling on a bus through, North America
🌎 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

6 weeks traveling around South America 💫🙋

Lived in Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭 for 12 months (party year) 🥳

There are so many awesome little adventures I've gone out and seen but those mentioned are the ones that I learnt the most, again each trip brought something new and different.

Over the years I managed to smash out over 50 countries and over 400 major cities so my carbon footprint today would of 100% unacceptable to some 😅.

After a decade of experiencing most of the most talked about adventures, I would like to think it's produced a super confident person who doesn't second guess himself too much and when I want to get something I just do it now without hesitation.

Fast forward a few more years and I'm now settled in Cairns, Queensland.

I bought my first home at 31 and it is located in a sleepy little town just 45 minutes from Cairns CBD called Babinda (the outer suburb I call it 😁)

The reason I have to extend my roots here is that my house is right at the very doorstep of a rainforest filled with amazing waterfalls, nature walks and animals (everything that makes North Queensland beautiful).

For work, I fly in and out of Cairns airport and work in the mines as a dispatcher / heavy machine operator, on 7 days on and 7 days off roster.

When I'm home on my days off I study part-time (travel and tourism aha 😅 and I've also got back into my gaming.

I have 2 weeks off each month now to enjoy the things I'm now dedicated to in my life which are my reptiles/studying and I do play a bit of PlayStation again! #SpaceMarines 🙃.

I do how often spend the odd few days in Airlie Beach or stay in the Daintree rainforest tree houses near Cape Tribulation so I am out and about just in no way near as much anymore.

I truly do think eventually travellers do settle down and plant their roots somewhere whether it be in their 30s or 40s.

I can host the right people from generally Friday afternoons to Mondays on my week off so the max period is only 3/4 days. As you can imagine running a household, studying and looking after 11 reptiles keeps me well and truly busy lol.

I would say I'm still super outgoing and super friendly and my key interests still are most definitely will remain getting amongst diversity and learning new people that part never dies and won't die out.

I will always be a firm believer in indifference because it is vital to learning and progressing in life and growing as an individual.

The biggest travel achievement I can say is🏆 I came in 8th in a worldwide travel competition the platform is called Travello it is a travel app. In early 2017 out of the 4800 people like myself, I made it in the top 15 then 10 and finally was placed 8th globally so for me it was the best thing for recognising my past and present travel blogs and experiences.

I have 9 domesticated carpet pythons (non-vemonous) and 2 frill-neck dragons in my house. They all live in separate tanks and are very well-handled and trained so most people who stay get to learn about some of the snakes and lizards we have here in Australia.

As a bonus, there is even a local crocodile 🐊 that lives 1km down from my house that I can show you called Clyde haha 😄.

Even tho it's a 50/50 chance of being able to host you guys send me a message, I'll always be happy to help and show people like myself around the area when I have the time and meet someone new.

I do get a lot of generic messages from people who send the same message to other hosts or some only want a hotel stop for a night.

This isn't the experience I'm after or why I use couch surfing so if that is you, I most likely won't reply.

With that being said, I wish all of you the very best, and be safe on your travels and future adventures ⭐️🌠.

Dan 🤓
