About Me

NOT HOSTING IN DUBAI RIGHT NOW.

HOSTING IN SOUTH PIEMONTE, ITALY.

IG: dan_the_bike_pilgrim

Born in Buenos, Aires, educated in Jerusalem and France.
Been traveling and couchsurfing before couchsurfing was a thing.
Never lived more than 3 years in a city, with exception of Dubai, where I have been for 20odd years and is home now.
But in all fairness, Dubai has provided me with the need to change cities every 3 years. Dubai has done it without me moving, as the city changed and renewed itself continuously under my feet.
Dubai and the UAE is not what the media portray. There is a lot more to Dubai and the Emirates than expensive hotels and glamorous restaurants. Dubai has awesome outdoor activities (during our winter months) including rock climbing, mountain biking, downhill biking, sailing, kitesurfing, and anything in between.
I am pretty much out there several times a week during the winter months and you are welcome to join me if you fancy.
I am passionate about outdoors, mountains specially, architecture and food.
I am bi/gay, pescatarian and my home is the opposite of OCD.

PIEMONTE, ITALY:
Google CASALE DURING KLEIN in google maps for exact location.
Home is a small cosy cottage with a couch by the fireplace.
There is only one bedroom, so you can chose to share the large bed if you don't mind or the couch in the living room.
The cottage is next door to the main house you see in google maps, which is currently under renovation.
The place is small but enough for you to crush while visiting the area.
I have a bike which you can use if I am not using it, and a second bike is easy to rent if we want to go biking together.

DUBAI:
The "couch" is a rather large independent room in the grounds of the house but totally detached. It has its own bathroom but no kitchen. There is however a kettle and a microwave.
Although I don't have any dogs/pets at the moment, guests must be animal lovers.
One last thing: no smoking in your bedroom please.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that you learn from every encouter. You learn when you meet Quechuas in Peru and when you meet a homeless in New York.
I travel quite a bit and considering upgrading my travelling experience from impersonal hotels to very personal couchsurfing in the future.
So I am starting by hosting first.
An old Arabic adage says "Paradise is not paradise if you have no one to share it with".
I have a spare room and lots of place to share.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I find this chapter a bit over arrogant... an amazing thing I've done... how not humble...
Being alive is already amazing when you dedicate your life to helping others.
Walked the 8 days of Choquequirao last July.
Hitched hiked the 6000 kms from Buenos Aires to Lima in 2014.
Biked the Camino de Santiago in 2017 and walked it in 2018 and 2019.
Biked Budapest to Navigarad in 2018.
Some smart soul once taught me: "We all have enough time (in a day), what we don't have, is enough life"

Teach, Learn, Share

Love learning new sports, new languages and new recipes.

Learning piano and Russian at the moment. (Russian teachers welcomed!)

Love sharing whatever i know about life, love, and living a life of conscientious choices, with no expectations. Basically, living a blissful life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A home and a view of Dubai that most expats don't see:
the non glamorous, street food Dubai, the UAE of rock climbing and mountain biking on your own.
No expensive tours.
Just you, your backpack and nature.

I also love cooking for my guests, and love been instagrammed while at it.
So if you are a videographer or photographer and you include my cooking on your pages, you will have first priority when it comes to chose who do I host. ;)
