Overview
About Me
Hi! My name's Dan and I've taken a semester off university to travel Europe for 8 months or so. I'm not totally sure what to write about me but here goes.
I study Software Engineering and Commerce at university and I'm halfway through the course at the time of writing this.
I desperately tried to learn Italian in high-school but I wasn't very good; the main purpose of this trip besides taking a break and going on holiday, is to try and become as fluent as possible in Italian before returning home.
I'm a huge fan of talking to strangers, particularly those of different life experiences. I like to think I'm a very optimistic person, even at the worst of times. Sometimes I can be shy and sometimes I can be really outgoing, I've found I really come out of my shell when overseas.
Truth be told the way I write does not sound like the way I talk, I'm much more informal in person and have a bad habit of swearing too much.
Anyway I think I'm rambling enough... looking forward to meeting new people. Cheers
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It has been recommended to me by a couple of people as a superb way to get involved with the locals of a country and experience a deeper level of enjoyment that might not be found as a lonely foreigner. Looking through the website now it seems like a great way to meet people overseas to hang with.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all music but mostly listen to alt rock.
Favourites right now: Cage the Elephant, Franz Ferdinand, The Front Bottoms
Don't have favourite movies but I do like the popular franchises (Marvel, Star Wars)
Used to read all the time but now I can't. Trying to get back into it... Any recommendations?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Jumped off the Mostar Bridge in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not a very good teacher but I'll do my darndest. I could show you the fundamentals of programming, or if you need help building a PC I can help in that regard. Otherwise, I'm very patient and you can practice you English on me as much as you want.
I would love to practice my Italian if you're willing to work with me? I would also like to learn about your culture, where ever you are from. I'm also interested in hearing what your reccomendations on places to go in Europe are.
I'm more than happy to share what I can about Australian culture. In the future I would be willing to share and open up my home with good people that might make it all the way to my country.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would like to pull my weight and do chores as required (within reason) for the generosity of letting me stay in your home. I can share with you my travel experiences so far and trade stories. However most of all, I would like to share a beer and a laugh or two.
