About Me

PHILOSOPHY
Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
Don’t count every day, make every day count.
This is your world. Shape it or someone else will.

ABOUT ME
Well what can say about me...? Most of all I'm an uncomplicated, adventurous and modest guy. Depending on my mood the range of things that i enjoy range from spending the whole day being busy exploring the outdoors up to just hanging out and chatting over some coffee, a few beers or a good glass of red wine :) I like to talk deeply about any random stuff as I'm eager to never stop learning. I love to meet people from all over the world and to get to know their culture, way of living and as far I can cope with it learning at least a few words of their language.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I came to know that it's the best way to travel! I think traveling is only half as good if you don't get to know the people that live where you are traveling to. And also without their advice you'll never get to see the little things that are off the beaten track. Only 2 years ago some friends and my sister Sophia told me about their great experiences with CS which made realize what I was missing on the trips I had done before.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting my friend Aaron in Haiti where he was working at an orphanage and discovering the country there. (Sleeping on a remote beach and snorkeling around beautiful riffs, hiking in the wilderness, walking all the way up to the citadel near Cap Haïtien)

2-day horseback riding trip in the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains in Lesotho. My ass hurt like hell :D
2-day-mountainbike trip with by brother in SA from Capetown to Cape Point and back. My ass hurt like hell again :D Arriving at the hostel and finding out my suitcase was stolen including my passport and still managing to fly home the next day because of the great work of the german embassy :D

6 weeks Backpacking trip in US, Haiti and Dom Rep where I gained my first CS experiences
Visiting my sister in D.C.
Revisiting my friend Aaron and my godchild Jeff in Gonaives, Haiti
"Trying" to surf in Cabarete, DR :D
Jumping down "27 waterfalls" in Puerto Plata, DR

And definitely many more to come :)

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH
Some basic guitar skills.
How to speak the funny German dialect people speak in the region where I come from.

LEARN
As I'm really interested in living a responsible and sustainable life, I like learn from everybody about their view on life and get inspired by that and possibly i can do the same thing in return ;)
I'm not a language genius but I'd like to learn at least some basic words in every language especially if I'm travelling to a foreign country.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My positive view on life :)
my enthusiasm to cook together (Basically I'll be probably be the person that learns in that process but there are a few dishes which I can do pretty well and in all other cases why not do an experiment :D)
my skills about which red wine to drink as my grandpa is a wine grower and managed to teach me to love its taste and some rudimentary skills how it's being made.
Some hours of my lifetime and some funny stories (a few beers and I do not mind telling even my most embarrassing and hilarious stories :D)
