About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring!

ABOUT ME

Grew up in the big city of London and am now a student in the tiny Scottish coastal town of St Andrews. As such, when it comes to travelling, I love going anywhere and everywhere – from big cities to small rural communities. Where possible, I always prefer to take the non-commercial route and try to eat, live and experience as much like a local as possible.

I am someone who is completely open to new experiences, learning about the history and culture of wherever I am exploring as well as just generally picking up interesting, quirky facts along my travels. I love being active – swimming, hiking and anything really, going for nights out as well as having the occasional quiet night in with a good film or book.

I generally like to think of myself (and try to be) a laid-back guy, who’s always up for a laugh and rarely turns down a new experience!

PHILOSOPHY

Sharing is caring!
&
In life, there is no such thing as strangers; only people you have not yet met!

Music, Movies, and Books

I think film is one of the most powerful instruments for expressing raw human emotion and experience. I LOVE World Cinema and to see an example of the raw power of cinema, watch 'Come & See' (Idi I Smotri) [1985].
Am also a big fan on documentaries, one of my most favourite recent ones being Project Nim
Put on the spot, then my favourite movie is probably: Stand By Me.

Music: I like to try and be as broad as possible in my tastes: from indie-classic rock to jazz, hip-hop to folk, country to reggae - I'm a fan of them all.

Books: I try and read 1 piece of fiction with every 1 philosophy/current affairs book that I often devour. Have just finished reading 'The Corrections' by Jonathan Franzen and am starting on 'Open Veins of Latin America' by Eduardo Galleano.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Have been very lucky in having so many awesome experiences - one of my favourite being on a week-long hike (& a few cheeky hitch-hikes) through Tuscany in Italy, meeting and hearing the stories of so many fascinating individuals, not knowing where or when our next camp-spot would be or where our next meal would be from. It was an awesome adventure!

Teach, Learn, Share

Am able to pass on my language skills, bush craft i.e. wildlife skills as well as a few choice Polish recipes.

Am up for learning whatever people have to teach - am hoping to start work on learning another language after the summer, perhaps French!
