About Me

I love meeting new people and traveling the world. I have lived in Europe for 4 years (France, Belgium, Germany, and Ireland), and those were some of the best experiences of my life. Anywhere possible, I tried to make home stays with local families, and it was something I'll never regret! The hospitality and culture/linguistic exchange changed the way I see the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am sold on the idea of seeing new places through the eyes of the local people and experiencing them as they do. Befriending locals and having meaningful, honest personal exchanges enriches immensely the experience of a place -- because it's no longer just the experience of a place, but of people as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the Irish (Uilleann) pipes, Gregorian chant, classic French "chanson" (Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour, et al.), and Frank Sinatra.

Favorite authors: Molière, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, G.K. Chesterton, Plato, and Thomas Aquinas.

Favorite movies: The Lives of Others (Das Leben der Anderen), Shawshank Redemption, Dances with Wolves, The King's Speech, Braveheart, The Last of the Mohicans, and Rudy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once backpacked solo across the mountainous Mediterranean island of Corsica. On the way, I befriended an Oxford-educated German ornithologist (bird scientist) and we spent a couple days together. It was an immense amount of fun!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am big into learning/practicing foreign languages, especially French and German! Also, I'm a beginner with Italian, so I would welcome opportunities for that as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to work out and was a member of my college rowing team, so if you need a running or lifting partner, I would be glad to participate and help motivate you!

Also, I make really good salmon dinner. I love eating wild fish and sharing it with others.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahrain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Italy, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
