Overview
About Me
Hiya, I'm Daniel, a third-year university student from North Carolina, USA. Looking to expand my world
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My favorite part of going to a new place is meeting new people. I've gone travelling alone a bit, and it can feel quite isolating when I can't find anyone to share experiences with, but extremely rewarding when I can make a connection that wouldn't have existed if I was travelling with another person. Plus, I was raised to be as frugal as possible, so this platform scratches that particular itch that's always on my mind.
Interests
I can't think of everything I'm interested in, but the stuff I've listed above typically falls in 3 categories: Outdoors, Sports, and Art. I was raised by a wilderness-loving mom, and so was somewhat born into hiking and camping and the sort. I have played a lot of sports through my life, but the three that I play currently are Ultimate, Tennis, and Climbing. My interest in climbing is only 2 years old, but I've already gone through a climbing instructor certification, and spend far too much time in my university's climbing gym. And "art" is a fairly broad term, but I like to think myself a relatively creative individual, but because my skill with the paintbrush is non-existent, I prefer to express myself through photography, film-making, and cooking.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a big Fantasy/Sci-Fi fan when it comes to books: some of my recent favorites being The Name of the Wind, The Way of Kings, and Red Rising.
With movies, I really enjoy amazing cinematography, but I also love glazing over for an hour watching something trashy. I'm a Marvel shill, and I will have loooonng conversations about the MCU with anyone who wants to.
Music, hmm, the only constant I can think of regarding my music tastes is that once I find a song I like, I will listen to it over and over and over until it's dead to me. I know, I'm horrible. Besides that, I'm open to most genres, especially Jazz, Rap, Indie, and Folk
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After high school, my best friend and I drove from one side of the US to the other and back in 14 days. We averaged 8 hours of driving a day. Oof.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Climbing, Computer Skills, and most things related to being in the woods for a long while.
Learn: Anything! But especially local culture or specialties; things that I couldn't learn anywhere else.
Share: My ever-growing collection of stories, my ability to cook and clean, and the good parts of Southern culture.
What I Can Share with Hosts
An extra pair of hands to work on any tasks you need doing, and a friend who's ready to go do whatever you're into! Just give me a little bit of time to decompress alone now and then, and I'll be up for anything.
