About Me

An American student currently studying in Spain, looking to travel wherever possible and meet as many people as I can along the way. I'm a bit of a nerd at heart (hence the biochemistry) and I like to say that I know a lot about things that don't matter. At the same time, I love traveling and experiencing new cultures just the same.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Visiting new places is cool-- don't get me wrong, but people are what can make any old place special. The true value of travel is not in the places you see, but the people you meet along the way. In my travels, I really would love to get to know people and make friends all across the world. :)

Currently unable to host, as I am living with a host family at the moment, but in the future there will always be a spot on my couch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Just about anything and everything. My top artists currently are Coldplay and The Beatles. I get it, those are both super popular bands that aren't necessarily 'unique.' So I'll list a bunch of other artists I listen to: Ben Rector, David Bowie, Lord Huron, Ed Sheeran, Shakira, Alvaro Soler, Elton John, Phil Collins, The Killers, Beach Boys, BØRNS, Jónsi, Hall & Oates, Most Disney, Vance Joy, The xx, Damien Rice, Beck, Gregory Alan Isakov, The 1975, Bastille, M83, Elvis, Calle 13, Robin Schulz, Hozier, Snow Patrol, Oasis, José González, Bon Iver, Kygo, Surfjan Stevens, Juanes, The Head and the Heart, etc...

Movies: Top 2 of all time: Good Will Hunting and Forrest Gump. La La Land is a new favorite as well. I'm into interesting documentaries, like Valley Uprising, Food Inc, 180 Degrees South, Damnation, Minimalism, and more. I've always been a bigger fan of TV shows, like Seinfeld, The Office, Parks&Recreation, Scrubs, Parenthood, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, Lost, Club de Cuervos, Breaking Bad, Criminal Minds, Saturday Night Live, more...

Books: Into the Wild-Jon Krakauer, Into Thin Air-Jon Krakauer, Alone on the Wall-Alex Honnold, Sirens of Titan-Kurt Vonnegut. Don't read as much as I should :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Canoeing down the Rio Grande River on the border of Texas and Mexico, miles and miles away from any sort of civilization.
-Lived out of a van on a cross-country road trip
-Visiting every US national park I can, favorites so far are Yosemite, Acadia, Arches, Canyonlands, Big Bend, Redwood, Shenandoah
-Lab research in synthesis of an anti-cancer molecule

Teach, Learn, Share

-I would love to share my adventures and travels with somebody while hearing what they have done as well. Sharing new perspectives and learning about other people is what life is all about.
-I know a good bit about making coffee
-I can talk about all kinds of science (only if you're interested :D)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My optimistic attitude, desire to get to know new people and places, and respectfulness as a guest. I've been living with a host family for awhile now so I know how to be a good guest!
