About Me

*I don’t accept more than 1 person and couchsurfers that has less than 5 reviews.

Brazilian living in Portugal.
Currently working remotely with social and enviromental impact, helping NGOs and foundations mostly in the areas of strategy, communication and fundraising.

Back then, while living in Brazil I graduated in Biology. Had internships in a zoo, in the museum and got a specialization in Sustainability. I worked for a innovation consultancy company for nearly 5 years, becoming one of the main partners. I also became part of Un Techo para Mi Pais - Teto - a NGO that main goal is to end poverty in Latin America towards community development.

Then I decided to follow my dream of traveling around the world - I quit my job-partnership, sold away everything. The supposed gap year turned to be two years. I've started writing, made up two personal projects. The first was called Sabático, where I shared my ideas of other cultures and my own photographies. The second, Iqhawe where I interviewed local African people.

Felt in love, started a relationship, ended it; made up some close friendships; meet incredible people; saw non-touristic and touristic scenarios; took part in local NGOs projects; and was able to tackle situations that only showed me how close we are as human beings, how much we shared as a specie - our problems, our dreams, our thoughts, our sensations.

While I traveled, I stayed with great people through Couchsurfing. So it's time for returning this big favour for others. I am now hosting people in Figueira da Foz, I'm very open to share my space with you. Happy to play/listen to some music, cook some food, or respect your space and rest if so. Of course, since I'm working in the week, I am not always available to hang out, but will be happy to recommend places and give you ideas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Here, I found a middle ground in the extreme active changing western societies and the slow-going passive eastern societies. I do think Couchsurfing make it possible to meet people with the same aspiration - to exchange knowledge, experience and stories. It can break through the artificial walls that we create as defining which country is here or there by non existent lines.

Interests

Now I have an on-going project-dream-hobby that is writing novels. My inspiration? The magic realism of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the suburbs tales of Jorge Amado. I do have a passion for water - being able to surf, to do scuba-diving and swimming. I love to play the acoustic guitar and read philosophy. I have a keen interest in meditation and yoga - I did a Vipassana 10 days meditation course and kept the practice of meditation in my daily life. I love to discuss philosophy and I am keen on learning more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As part of my two years around Africa, Asia and Oceania - a little part of Europe in the end - I worked in the maintenance of a meditation retreat, as a photographer and video-marker for a safari reserve and a training-guiding safari, in the creation of a local vegetable garden; giving information and helping to create projects within young mothers and people diagnosed with HIV.

Teach, Learn, Share

Photography is one of my main hobbies. I would love to share some of the pictures I've took in the places that I've been through. The link below is my album of every city/place I've been in the last years: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sabaticoblog/albums
